Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever, Amen. Offering Offertory Alleluia by Wilson *Doxology Hymn #625 Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow *Prayer of dedication Scripture James 3: 1-12 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers; because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. Rake and Run! On Sundays, November 4th and 11th, our Youth Group (and anyone else from Trinity who wishes to join in on the fun) will be raking yards...the more, the merrier! Please let Beth Van Vorhis know if you wish to help OR if you need your yard raked OR know of someone who does. We will be accepting donations for our Youth Group Fund. One of the ways we connect with Christ is through the sacrament of Communion. Often our homebound members aren t able to participate in Communion. In fact it s one of the things that they miss most about attending church regularly. Pastor Andrea is looking for people to serve on a Congregational Care Team that would help in visiting our homebound members with Communion each month. Please contact the office if you would like to serve in this way. Fall Church Clean-Up Day will be on Saturday, October 13th from 9am-1pm. There will be a sign-up sheet on the Information Station for those wishing to help. Calling all Euchre and Game players! It is time to dust off all those board games you love to play. Join us October 13 th at 6:30 at the church. Bring a snack to share and come have a great time hanging out with old and new friends. We will provide the cards and the rules for the Euchre tournament. Euchre tournament starts promptly at 7pm. Questions? See Beverly Cope or Tim and Amanda Parish. The Annual Crop Hunger Walk will take place this year on October 14 th at 1:00pm at the Bowling Green City Park in the Kiwanis Memorial Shelter. If you would like to donate to the Crop Walk please contact Judy Wilbarger at (419) 354-7028. You are also invited to walk in the Crop Walk or to come and cheer on the walkers and enjoy the festivities at the shelter house. Trunk or Treat will be on Friday, October 19th from 6-8pm this year. It is a great time of community outreach for us every year, besides being a lot of fun! Start planning your trunk decorations now and please sign up on the sheet in the sanctuary. We also need candy donations by Sunday, October 14th.

Would you like to know more about Trinity UMC and the United Methodist Church? Pastor Andrea will be offering a new member class today from 12:00pm-1:30pm in the conference room. Lunch will be provided. Come to learn more about our church and the ways you can connect in service and faith through membership in the United Methodist Church. Raise some dough at Rapid Fired Pizza! Our Missions Committee is having a fundraiser on Tuesday, October 9th from 11am-10pm. There are flyers at church for you to pick up. You can present the flyer when you eat in (or carry out) and they will donate 25% of your purchase to Missions. The flyers are on the Information Station and will also be in next week s Bulletin.
