(Not So) Diet Soda Go figure: In a study spanning nearly a decade, older people who drank two or more diet sodas a day had gains in their girth that were six mes greater than those who drank none. Is it something about the sweeteners, or do diet soda drinkers spend their saved calories elsewhere? Researchers aren t sure, but if you switch to water (plain or bubbly) you don t have to wait to find out. (Source: University of Texas Health Science Center provided by Olmsted County Public Health Services) STEPHEN MINISTRY UNCONDITIONAL: Not subject to any conditions or limitations It is hard to find anything that is unconditional. Everything seems to have strings attached to it. Yet God s love is unconditional we don t have to earn it or achieve anything to receive it. At times, however, we can feel quite removed from God s unconditional love. We can feel guilty, undeserving, or downright unlovable. At those times, Stephen Ministers can help. They are trained to listen and care in a nonjudgmental way, focusing on letting Christ s unconditional love flow through them and into the life of their care receiver. If you or someone you know has been struggling with guilt or feeling unlovable and would like to learn more about Stephen Ministry, please out a request slip (available at the narthex counter) and give to Pastor Jim or feel free to call Bill Cochran (507) 288-4133 or Dave Wood (507) 529-5635. LIFE THOUGHTS... The death Jesus died, He died once for all (Romans 6:10). He purchased all. Thus, He gives value to all. Every person we encounter, no matter their size or location or condition of health, is someone for whom Jesus died. Our responsibility is to acknowledge their value and lead them to see its true source. FAMILY IN CHRIST CHRISTCARE GROUP We have openings in our Family in Christ ChristCare group for families with young children. Please join us on Friday, January 13, from 6:30 pm to 8 pm, at Redeemer, as we start a new Bible study called Courageous. Please bring your children with you if you are able. Any questions, please contact Mick or Diana Reese at 281-2877. 4 Week of 1-8-2012

But it is a good problem! We had more people in worship on Christmas Eve than we have ever had before more than 1000! (525 at 3 pm, 350 at 5:30 pm, and 129 at 11 pm.) At the 3 pm service we could not get everyone into the Sanctuary. Since it is not likely that we can convince 200 people from the 3 pm service to switch to the 11 pm, the Elders are looking at other solutions for next year. We are considering adding an additional service but at what time? Please help us out by telling us when you would likely worship next year (Christmas Eve is on a Monday) if we offered either of the following worship times: Option A: Option B: 2:00 pm 4:00 pm 6:00 pm 11:00 pm Depends on when choirs sing. 1:00 pm 3:00 pm 5:30 pm 11:00 pm Depends on when choirs sing. Are you likely to worship at a later time next year because Christmas Eve is on a Monday (a workday for some)? (circle one) Yes No Other Suggestions: Thank you for your help. Please put in the offering plate today or return to the office. 7 Week of 1-8-2012
