From the Desk of Pastor Dave, Grace and peace to you from our Lord, Jesus Christ! Shalom! I am Pastor Daegyu Dave Yim who was appointed to Ottawa Evangelical United Methodist Church by our Bishop, Sally Dyck, from July 1 st of 2017 as a half time pastor. I am grateful to God for giving me this great opportunity to serve such a faithful congregation, Ottawa EUMC. It is indeed an honor for me to serve you and walk with you on our faithful journey to God. I can say that I will try to do my best to serve God and serve you as your pastor. I would like to request a couple of things for our strong start. First of all, please be joyful in God and thankful to God. God gave us a sister church, Leland United Methodist Church. Leland UMC just merged with Suydam UMC, who had had a good relationship with each other for many years, and they officially become one church from this month on. We know that it s a challenge for both churches; Ottawa EUMC and Leland UMC. Both churches have not experienced those things before. But, God always has a new plan for God s people and makes a way even through the sea. God allowed us to walk together on our faithful journey by supporting each other and by sharing what each congregation has. We are going to share our pastor and our secretary, Jen Cole, with each other, and it will work out very well. Therefore, let us be happy and give thanks to our wonderful God! Wednesdays for my office hour. My whole family will also join Sunday worship services twice a month. Above all, please don t hesitate to call me, text me, and email me with any concerns, for counseling, and church issues. I am always open to listen to you, learn from you, and talk to you about God, church, and our lives. Physically, I can t be a full-time minister only for you, but I will try to be with you just as a full time pastor. My cell phone number is 224-600-0446, Leland parsonage is 815-495-2205, and my e-mail address is daveyim15@gmail.com. Leland parsonage address is 270 N. Locust St, Leland, 60531. Lastly, please let us pray for each other and our new journey. I believe that trusting each other and building a love relationship in a community is what God really wants us to do and it takes time. Church is not a building or a company, but a community who loves each other and is inspired by the Spirit of God. Let us seek God in our relationships and in our daily lives and ask for more love and understanding for each other. God will help us to accept each other and understand one another with God s power and wisdom. God is good, all the time! Once more, I am very glad that God gives me this great opportunity to serve Ottawa EUMC and the Ottawa area. Let us walk together with each other on our faithful journey to God by holding our hands together and folding our hands to pray to God. Praise to the Lord! Pastor Dave Yim Next, please don t be worried about having a half time pastor. My wife and I decided to stay in Leland and live in Leland parsonage. But, I will come down to Ottawa EUMC on Mondays and

Church Mouse Tidbits Church Start Beginning July 2, 2017 Evangelical will begin worship at 10:45. Pastor Dave will be leading worship at Leland at 8:45 and will need travel time as well as a little time to get his thoughts in order. Please be considerate and mindful of this new start time. We come to church to worship God and time should be irrelevant. Remember transitions take work and we thank God for providing us with Pastor Dave as our spiritual leader so that we can continue to worship together. In the Hospital Linda Mindak is recovering from surgery. She is recovering at PVL just a room away from Willard. She can use your prayers and your good wishes for a speedy recovery. Also, please remember Willard and let him know you are thinking of him as well. Upcoming Community Event House Church House groups will continue to meet throughout the summer. I know vacations may conflict with the meeting date of your group, but please try to be supportive of your leaders and church family. We are all struggling through this transition period, but we will persevere and continue to be supportive of each other so that, as James said, we may be complete and mature in our faith.
