MARCH 2018 TIDINGS NEWSLETTER TRILBY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 5918 Secor Rd. Toledo, OH 43623 419-472-2103 jwheeler@trilbyumc.bex.net *OFFICE HOURS: Tuesday thru Thursday 9:00 am 3:00 pm *SUNDAY MORNING SCHEDULE: Sunday Worship 10:00 am Sunday School 10:00 am * Celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion - 1 st Sunday * Children s Message: 3 rd Sunday A HAPPY REASON TO PRAY Too many people pray because of problems, depression or worry. Our God is indeed a healer, Savior and defender to cover those issues. I compell you to expand your definition of God s personality and expand the reasons to pray. First John 4:1 says If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father who is Jesus. This text portrays a heavenly courtroom with four participants: the accussed Christian, the Judge (God the Father), Jesus (the advocate as protecting attorney) and the acccusser of the Christian (Satan) (see also Job 1 and 2 and Revealation 12:10). I recommend the prayer Jesus made Get thee behind me Satan. Having a happy new day should be based on Romans 8:1; There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. The sheer mention of Jesus name with loving trust rather than as a curse forces Satan, our accuser to flee. Not many folks visit a legal attorney just for the fun of it. It s sad, because this person can establish a will or plans for a brighter future. Jesus has a great plan for your future that sends Satan running. Here is an advocate that is also a wise counselor and best friend. Pastor Larry 1

The risen Christ is with us every day: when we pray, when we make decisions, when we say grace at meals, when we work and play, when we are anxious or afraid, when we are joyful, when we are thankful, and when we gove and receive love. LET ME LIVE BY FAITH Dear God, let me live by faith: Not faith in myself, but in you; Not faith in my own abilities, But faith in Your Power and Wisdom. Help me to faithfully Walk past any playing field flooded with the glare of my own self-centeredness, And walk toward the unknown pathways which You have charted for me some less visible than candle glow. In the midst of the unknown I shall find Your gifts to me; In the midst of darkness, I shall find the Light Of Your Love. And in the midst of Faith s victory, I shall find Your abiding Grace. Dear God, let me live by faith! Peggy Ferrell New Membership Class for 2018 If you are interested in joining the family of Trilby United Methodist Church, please contact Pastor Larry and let him know of your interest. MARCH BIRTHDAYS Christina Johnson 3-1 Sally Wing 3-3 Robert Joyner 3-4 Carson Rober 3-7 Kayla Rober 3-10 Zachary Lemke 3-8 Taytum Youssef 3-14 David Krell 3-17 Timothy Krell 3-17 Michelle Wright 3-20 MARCH ANNIVERSARIES Roman & Pam Bialecki March 20 SOUP, CRACKERS & PRAYERS THOUGHT FOR LENT God gave us life that we might be born into His eternity. God gave us prayer that we might know the way in which our souls should grow. God gave us Christ that we might see invisible reality. Jeanne Birrelkl 8 SOUP, CRACKERS & PRAYERS will continue throughout the Wednesdays of Lent at 6:00 pm. Each week, we will gather together to enjoy a lite supper of soup and crackers, joined together with prayer time. A different soup will be provided by different members of the congregation each Wednesday evening throughout this time of Lent until Good Friday. After the lite meal of soup and crackers, Pastor will lead us in prayer time. This is open to you, your family and your friends. Be sure you share this Lenten time with them.

PRAY Remembering these four letters can help balance and enrich your prayer life: P-raise We come to God, hearts brimming with praise for who he is and what he has done for us, especially in Jesus cross and empty tomb. (See Revelation 5:12.) R-epent Because Jesus washed away our sin by the blood of his cross, we can confess our wrongdoing to God, confident He will forgive us. (See 1 John 1:5:12.) We can also rely on him to work in our hearts and lives so they honor him. (See Philippians 2:13.) A-sk We can bring every one of our needs, large and small, to the Lord. Our prayers can be specific, and we can wait expectantly and in confidence for his answers. (See Psalm 50:15.) Y-ield By yielding to our Lord, we embrace His will. We invite Him to work godliness in us, and we trust him to give us only what he knows best for us. We know he will not withhold any good thing. (See Philippians 2:13 and Romans 8:28-32.) 9
