Twenty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time September 3, 2017 Jeremiah laments in today s First Reading about the costs of prophecy, You duped me O Lord, and I let myself be duped, while Paul s Letter to the Romans today is about guidance in ethical considerations, I urge you, brothers and sisters to offer yourselves to God and in the Gospel today we hear the first prediction of Jesus passion, all of which lead us to LEARN to conduct ourselves in light of eternity by being transformed and deepening our relationship with God. We ARE to conform ourselves to God s ways and THEN we will know the will of God! Again, the Word offers us simple words which are NOT that easy to follow. However, Do good this week! The Diocese of Cleveland WELCOMES the Most Reverend Nelson J. Perez as the 11 th Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland on Tuesday, September 5 th at the 2:00pm Mass of Installation at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. The live stream of the Installation Mass will begin at 1:30pm on a special website, bishopperezinstallation.org. Live television coverage will be offered on EWTN nationwide cable television network; Spectrum Cable on Channel 1314; CatholicTV cable network and radio stations WCCR AM 1269, The Rock; and WILB 1060 Living Bread Radio will broadcast the Installation Mass. Also, Cleveland.com and Ohio.com are expected to stream the installation Mass. The bishopperezinstallation.org website will offer the latest details relating to the Installation. The Church celebrates the Anniversary of death of St. Teresa of Calcutta, on Tuesday, September 5 th. Mother Teresa worked tirelessly on behalf of the poor. Her love knew no bounds, nor did her energy, as she crisscrossed the globe pleading for support and inviting others to see the face of Jesus in the poorest of the poor. In 1979, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, died on September 5, 1997 and was canonized by Pope Francis on September 4, 2016. Mother Teresa s beatification, just over six years after her death, was part of an expedited process put into effect by Pope John Paul II. Like so many others around the world, he found her love for the Eucharist, for prayer, and for the poor a model for all to emulate. We remember and celebrate her life and love this week! Many THANKS for your financial commitment to the Parish this past weekend. Blessings and peace to all. Fr. John

Welcome - Newly Baptized Welcome this weekend the newly baptized - Blake Ruth Drapcho Andrew Albertini Family Perspective Today s gospel challenges families: are we living by God s standards or by human ones? Families today are assailed by a consumer culture that tells us we are what we own. To us Jesus responds: What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Think long term and sacrifice for that which is eternal. Don t shortcut effort or short sell time with our family. Weekend Collection s Collection for 8/27/17: $10,447.00 Thank you for your generosity to the Parish. Home to the homeless Christ Mother Teresa To offer a home to the homeless Christ start by making your own homes places where peace, happiness and love abound, through your love for each member of your family and for your neighbors. Just kidding, it s not your last chance for choir. (Unless I just reminded you of something you needed to do, then there you go!) Next week, we will be singing a different mass settings for all of our Ordinaries of the Mass. Be ready! It s an exciting time as we move into autumn. As I have said countless times, our music ministry is a great way to get involved in the faith and your church! If you have even an inkling of I might want to join I suggest you come to our first rehearsal! Everyone is so welcoming and as we work hard we also have lots of fun! I hope to see some new faces on Tuesday.! Traditional Choir, Contemporary Choir, and Youth Choir are off for the summer, but choir season is about to begin! It is a story we are very familiar with but can always find new meanings in. Join us in the chapel on Tuesday morning from 11:00am - 12:00pm. Our goal is to make the gospel come to life within our lives. Just bring your Bible and an open heart. Evening Bible Study is taking some time off and will not meet again until September. Watch the bulletin for the date of the first session. Quiet Prayer Quiet prayer will meet on Tuesday from 12:30pm - 1:00pm in the chapel to do simple quiet prayer. As we move into the autumn season why not give yourself the opportunity this method of prayer gives us to more easily hear the voice of God in our hearts. 12 Step Spirituality 12 Step Spirituality will meet this Thursday in the chapel from 2:30pm 4:00pm.
