I heard the voice of Jesus say, "Come unto me and rest; lay down, thou weary one, lay down thy head upon my breast." I came to Jesus as I was, so weary, worn, and sad; I found in him a resting place, and he has made me glad. ENTRANCE HYMN I heard the voice of Jesus say, "Behold, I freely give the living water; thirsty one, stoop down and drink, and live." I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him. I heard the voice of Jesus say, "I am this dark world's light; look unto me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright." I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my Star, my Sun; and in that light of life I'll walk till traveling days are done. GREETING The Priest introduces todays Mass and invites us to confess our sins. 3

GLORIA IN EXCELSIS Priest: Let us pray 4 THE COLLECT God, whose Only Begotten Son has appeared in our very flesh, grant, we pray, that we may be inwardly transformed through him whom we recognize as outwardly like ourselves. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. VxxDRzzzzzzfzzzzzz} All: O A-men.

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD SIT First Reading At the end, the reader says: The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSORIAL PSALM Second Reading At the end, the reader says: The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. GOSPEL ACCLAMATION STAND 5

THE HOLY GOSPEL Luke 3 15-16, 21-22 THE HOMILY SIT THE BLESSING OF THE FONT AND RENEWAL OF BAPTISMAL VOWS. STAND Dearly beloved, let us humbly invoke upon this font the grace of God the almighty Father, that those who from it are born anew may be numbered among the children of adoption in Christ. Lord our God, in your mercy be present to your people who recall the wondrous work of our creation and the still greater work of our redemption, graciously bless this water. For you created water to make the fields fruitful and to refresh and cleanse our bodies. 6

You also made water the instrument of your mercy: for through water you freed your people from slavery and quenched their thirst in the desert; through water the Prophets proclaimed the new covenant you were to enter upon with the human race; and last of all, through water, which Christ made holy in the Jordan, you have renewed our corrupted nature in the bath of regeneration. Therefore, may this water be for us a memorial of the Baptism we have received, and grant that we may share in the gladness of our brothers and sisters, who will receive their Baptism at this font. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. THE RENEWAL OF VOWS Do you reject Satan? I do. And all his works? I do. And all his empty promises? I do. Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth? I do. Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father? I do. Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting? I do. 7

God, the all-powerful Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has given us a new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, and forgiven all our sins. May he also keep us faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ for ever and ever. Amen. All are invited to come to the Font to take the water and sign themselves with the sign of the Cross. During it we sing: hou flowing water, pure and clear, Make music for thy Lord to hear, O praise Him! Alleluia! Thou fire so masterful and bright, That givest man both warmth and light. O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! The prayer of the Faithful is ommitted LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST At the preparation of the gifts and the Altar S T ongs of thankfulness and praise, Jesus, Lord, to thee we raise, manifested by the star to the sages from afar; branch of royal David's stem in thy birth at Bethlehem; anthems be to thee addressed, God in man made manifest. 3. Manifest in making whole palsied limbs and fainting soul; manifest in valiant fight, quelling all the devil's might; manifest in gracious will, ever bringing good from ill; anthems be to thee addressed, God in man made manifest. 2. Manifest at Jordan's stream, Prophet, Priest and King supreme; and at Cana, wedding guest, in thy Godhead manifest; manifest in power divine, changing water into wine; anthems be to thee addressed, God in man made manifest. 8 4. Sun and moon shall darkened be, stars shall fall, the heavens shall flee; Christ will then like lightning shine, all will see his glorious sign; all will then the trumpet hear, all will see the Judge appear; thou by all wilt be confessed, God in man made manifest.

Grant us grace to see thee, Lord, mirrored in thy holy Word; may we imitate thee now, and be pure, as pure art thou; that we like to thee may be at thy great Epiphany; and may praise thee, ever blest, God in man made manifest. Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God the almighty Father. May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good, and the good of all his holy Church. To which we respond: Vcfzzfzzzzzz} All: Amen THE PRAYER OVER THE OBLATION The celebrant continues with the Eucharistic prayer until we sing:

We all KNEEL as the Celebrant continues with the Eucharistic Prayer. After the Lord s words are said over the bread and the chalice we use the following The Mystery of Faith: O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord. At the end of prayer we all sing: VxcDRxf} All: Y A - men. ea, Lord, we greet thee, present on this altar. Jesu to thee be glory given. Altar and Manger, one eternal moment O come, let us adore him 10

COMMUNION RITE At the Saviour s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say: THE LORD S PRAYER STAND Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen. If you are not already standing, please STAND now. 11

AGNUS DEI COMMUNION Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. When offered the Host and the Chalice or when given a blessing the response is always: Amen. DURING HOLY COMMUNION All baptised Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion if it your usual practice or the practice of your church. If not, you may like to receive a blessing. Please come to the altar holding this booklet to indicate that you would like a blessing. 12

T he Lord s my Shepherd, I ll not want. He makes me lie in pastures green. He leads me by the still, still waters, His goodness restores my soul. And I will trust in You alone. And I will trust in You alone, For Your endless mercy follows me, Your goodness will lead me home. DURING HOLY COMMUNION He guides my ways in righteousness, And He anoints my head with oil, And my cup, it overflows with joy, I feast on His pure delights. And though I walk the darkest path, I will not fear the evil one, For You are with me, and Your rod and staff Are the comfort I need to know. To which we respond: Vcfzzfzzzzzz} Amen Any notices and Banns of Marriage are announced now PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION STAND THE CONCLUDING RITES STAND 13

Yorkshire V: The Angel of the Lord announced unto Mary. R. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit. Let us pray Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts: that as we have known the incarnation of Thy Son Jesus Christ by the message of an Angel, so too by His Cross and passion may we be brought to the glory of His resurrection. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. FINAL HYMN T he race that long in darkness pined, Have seen a glorious Light; The people dwell in day, who dwelt In death s surrounding night. 4. To us a Child of Hope is born, To us a Son is given, Him shall the tribes of earth obey, Him all the hosts of heaven. 2. To hail Thy rise, Thou better Sun, The gathering nations come, Joyous as when the reapers bear The harvest treasures home. 3. For Thou our burden hast removed, And quelled the oppressor s sway, Quick as the slaughtered squadrons fell In Midian s evil day. 14 5. His Name shall be the Prince of Peace, Forevermore adored, The Wonderful, the Counselor, The great and mighty Lord. 6. His power increasing still shall spread, His reign no end shall know: Justice shall guard His throne above, And peace abound below.
