Night Light The Tuesday evening ladies Bible study has been renamed, Night Light. This group meets to study on Tuesday evenings so that we can go out and be a bit of light in our corner of the world. We will be picking up at the end of the Pentateuch when Moses called on Joshua to lead the people into the land that God promised to give to his people. Watch for details on when this group will start the study of Joshua.

April 15, 2018 JESUS CHRIST IS IN THIS PLACE! ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN HERE! 10:30am You are always welcome at our worship services. May God bless you today and strengthen you to meet the challenges of the week ahead. SCRIPTURE READING Mark 8:34-38 34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. 36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father s glory with the holy angels. UNISON BLESSING FOR THE OFFERING God of the cross, we recognize the suffering and death you did for us. By your agony and death, we are forgiven and we can become healed. This makes us uncomfortable when we think about the sacrifice you made for us, but we rejoice in the comfort it brings into our life of salvation. Forgive us when we take this all for granted and we become too comfortable in our walk with you. Now bless the work of this church, of your people as we help those who are in need and bring the message of hope and love to an uncomfortable world. This we ask in the name of the Risen Christ, Amen. If the cross is the place where the worst thing that could happen happened, it is also the place where the best thing that could happen happened. Ultimate hatred and ultimate love met on those two crosspieces of wood. Suffering and love were brought into harmony. To be saved requires a severance from the former life as clean and sharp as though made by a knife. There must be a wall of separation between the old life and the new, a radical break. That means death death to the old life, in order for the new to begin. This wall of separation, this barrier, is the cross. A Path Through Suffering ~Elisabeth Elliot (1926-2015) Elisabeth s first husband, Jim Elliot, was killed in 1956 while making missionary contact with the Auca (now known as Waorani or Waodani) of Ecuador. After the Auca tribe killed Jim Elliot and his missionary partners, Elisabeth refused to give up on the people in that tribe. She continued her missionary work with them, living for two years with her three year old daughter among the Auca.
