and if the budget allows!) It is the month to say "I love you!" "God So Loved the World..." Upcoming Events! Ash Wednesday Soup Dinner & Ash Service February 13th 6:30 pm Dinner 7:15 pm Service Congregational Meeting February 24th Following Worship Alma Youth Mix Teens for Christ will attend the annual Presbyterian youth Rally at Alma college March 1-3! Adult Sunday School Begins at 9:30 am. The Beatitudes Study with Barb Brown meets in the Fellowship Hall, and HPC 101 with Rev. Sharlyn meets in her office. Fred and I have enjoyed many a Valentine's Day together. Did you know he is a true romantic? He never disappoints with the sweet cards he gives. I always look forward to getting them and have saved most every card I have ever received from my sweetheart. (Guess you could say I'm a romantic too!) It is a joy to celebrate these kinds of things when you are in love and life is going great, isn't it? Thing is, the longer I live and serve as pastor, the more aware I am that there are many men and women who are lonely and grieving. Some are observing the first year of the death of a spouse or loved one. Some are trying to get over the pain of divorce or separation. Many will spend Valentine's Day alone. I am ever aware that nothing in life stays the same. Our journeys lead us on winding paths with twists and turns, not knowing what will be ahead. Yet we can be sure there will be change at some point. I am also ever thankful for love. While I am thrilled to have the love of my husband still thriving and growing, I am especially thankful for our Christian love. That "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling" that is given to us through Jesus and that is commanded for us to give one another. Jesus says the greatest commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'there is no commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:30-32, NIV)

All are welcome to attend either class. The Gathering Place for Kids Begins at 9:30 am. Wednesday Lunch Bunch Will resume meeting every Wednesday at 12:00 pm on January 9th. The topic will be Paul's Letter to the Ephesians. Led by Charlee Litten. The Digging Deeper Study is on Hiatus until after Lent. Where would we be without that Christian love... a love that supports us and lifts us up, carries our burdens to the Lord, gives a hug, a smile, shares in tears, forgives, never judges, walks along with us in our joys and in our sorrows? As the old hymn says "Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love. The fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above. We share our mutual woes, our mutual burdens bear, and often for each other flows the sympathizing tear. From sorrow, toil, and pain, and sin we shall be free; and perfect love and friendship reign through all eternity." (Johann Hans Georg Nageli, John Fawcett, 1782, Public Domain) ANNUAL REPORT Copies'of'the'annual Report'will'be'available February'10th'for'you'to read'prior'to'our'annual congregational'meeting on'february'24th following'worship.''' This Valentine's Day, may you know God's love, divine love, a love that excels all other loves, regardless of where you are in your life. May every day of every month find us speaking and doing acts of love in the name of Christ, our Lord. "Love one another, as I have loved you." (John 13:34, NIV) In Christ's Love, Rev.
