About the Speaker- GURUDEV SHRI AMRITJI Since the 1960s, Gurudev Shri Amritji has been honored worldwide as the first yoga guru for bringing the inner dimension of yoga to the west. Over the past fifty-six years, he has founded some of the largest yoga and health centers in North America including Kripalu Yoga Center and the Amrit Yoga Institute. More than 10,000 yoga and yoga nidra teachers in over 45 countries have been certified to teach the inner dimension of yoga that he developed. This approach provides in-depth healing and powerful therapeutic and transformative benefits in the popular approaches to Hatha yoga. For this outstanding contributions to the global yoga community, he has been recognized with the titles, International Grand Yoga Master, Doctor of Yoga, Jagadacharya, Maharishi, and many more. He has been awarded the Global service award, The Patanjali Award, and the Vishwa Yoga Ratna presented by the President of India. In 1992, he was nominated for Padma Vibhushan by the late prime minister Chandra Shekhar.
