Psalm 95 1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD ; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. 3 For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. 5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

Psalm 95 6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; 7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.

Are rules meant to be broken?

It is possible that rules exist outside ourselves By this we could be saying that: Breaking rules means punishment There are only black & white situations Both sides of the argument are judged as having important consequences

It is possible that rules become part of us with expectations from others By this we could be saying that: We cast blame either way We need justification for judgements on either side There should be payment for restitution (making up for wrongs)

It is possible that rules are important but they do NOT perfectly reflect fundamental moral principles: By this we could be saying that: There is justification for breaking the rules We can weigh up the whole situation We judge two conflicting principles

Is there ONE Christian worldview?

Matthew 7: 28,29 the crowds were amazed at the teaching of Jesus because He taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Matthew 5: 17 Don t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.

You have heard this but I tell you this Matthew 5 v.21 murder v.27 adultery v.31 divorce v.33 oaths v.38 revenge v.43 love for enemies

We might be GOOD but no-one is perfect in God s eyes

Matthew 5: 48 you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

The word perfect in this context is about completeness, wholeness, maturity. It describes a life that is totally integrated to the will of God a life reflecting His character.

Are rules meant to be broken? Rules guide us but Jesus wants us to go deeper to find the character of God in all our living
