6 www.firstpresgf.org First Presbyterian Church September 2018 LaGrave on First Ten years after the need was first identified in the City of Grand Forks plan to end long-term homelessness, local and state officials celebrated the successful completion of LaGrave on First. LaGrave on First is a home that will end longtermed homelessness to 42 individuals. Photo by Eric Hylden/Grand Forks Herald Photo by Eric Hylden/Grand Forks Herald The project is named in honor of Royce LaGrave, a member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Forks until his death in December 1983. He was a driving force behind the creation of the non-profit Grand Forks Homes which now own eight housing units. First Presbyterian Church has had a seat on the board since the creation of Grand Forks Homes. Jim Walker currently represents our church. LaGrave on First is the culmination of years of work by leaders in both Grand Forks Homes and the Grand Forks Housing Authority. For full article Opening A New Door by Emily Allen of the Grand Forks Herald, please see copy in church office. Attention Crafters & Bakers The Fifteen Annual Apple Fest is Saturday, October 13, from 8-12. It is time to start looking through your recipes and find your favorite things that can be made and donated to the bake sale. Cookies, bars, quick bread, breads, and rolls are popular. Other items that sell well besides baked goods are jams, jelly, and canned items such as pickles and hot sauce. Do you have a craft to donate for Apple Fest? Now is also a great time to get started on those craft items to donate for the craft sale! If you have any questions about your craft donations, please contact Lois MacGregor. Finally New to You sale items. If you have things around at home that you no longer need, consider donating them to the New to You sale. Please make sure the items are clean and in very good condition. NO clothing pleases. Prices are not needed unless you have a special item that would need a minimum price. Please bring the items to the church only from October 7 through the 12, during church hours that week. For exceptions, contact Barb Beach. Apple pickers will be needed soon. Please continue to check announcements, email blasts and billboard for dates and times. Finally, Apple Fest organizers are looking for people to help with the event. If you are interested please contact Barb Beach.
