Are you awake?! Well, we are standing here aren t we? Yes you are, but are you awake? It s Easter, you know! Are you feeling a little exposed or naked in this questioning? Jesus said to them, Children, you have no fish, have you? They answered him, No. He said to them, Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find some. So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in because there were so many fish. The book study group has begun a new book, "Convictions, How I Learned What Matters Most" by Marcus J. Borg. Borg was a contemporary New Testament scholar who was especially skillful at writing about theology in understandable and concise prose. The book was his last (he died last year) and fittingly summarizes his faith journey and his theology. Please join the group for good discussion and fellowship. We meet on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby (not on April 4th as most of the group works at Simpson). Sanctuary Choir will rehearse in the sanctuary on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m. Loaves and Fishes - Thursday, April 14. We need volunteers for 2 shifts, which are: 3 to 5:00 p.m. for setup and food prep, and from 5 to 7:00 p.m. to help serve and cleanup, at Brunswick United Methodist Church on 42nd Avenue in Crystal. For more information or to sign up, see the bulletin board in the upper lobby or volunteers can call Linda at 763-559-1849 with any questions. This is a part-time paid position and job-share with Colette, the person needs to be 18 years or older. We are also developing a volunteer youth program to assist in the nursery on Sundays, so that we can have double coverage, if needed. We encourage you to be a volunteer. If you have an interest in any of these positions, please contact Jody Grande or email SPR@spiritofhopeumc.org. Home Stretch - Soon all of those boxes and bags that you have filled for the flea market can get moved out of the basement or garage, but you still have time to find one more bagful. Wait to bring smaller items until Sunday, May 1. DO NOT bring furniture or other large items until Sunday, May 15. Thanks! Dates: May 19-21. Ministry Trust Fund Makes Grants - The Board of the SOH Ministry Trust Fund recently approved two grant requests: DAYS FOR GIRLS-$500. The mission of Days for Girls is to provide girls and women in developing countries with sustainable feminine hygiene kits as a part of a health education program. Several members of the congregation are volunteers who help sew, prepare, and assemble the kits for the New Hope Chapter. These kits help girls "regain" days in their lives for school and work, when otherwise they may have been shunned or isolated during their menstrual periods. If you wish to volunteer, please contact Ann Rest. GOLDEN VALLEY PRIDE FESTIVAL-$500. The inaugural Golden Valley Pride Festival will be held on June 12 at Meadowbrook Park. The grant will help pay the expenses for the event which is not funded by the city. SOH will have a presence at the festival as an outreach event. Our Community PRISM - Our goal was 5000 pounds. We produced over 10,000 pounds! We doubled our goal! PRISM thanks you for your generosity! PRISM is our local food shelf. You can help in two ways.
