He and his twin brother Dwain were born May 30, 1935, in Eureka, Utah, to David Garbett Sr. and Mary Alice Huff Garbett. He grew up in Eureka and attended Eureka schools, where he met his future wife, Ann. He was a graduate of Tintic High School. David grew up in a humble home where he was taught the value of hard work and where he learned to find happiness through music and his relationships with family and friends. He married Ann Louise Snell on June 7, 1957, in Eureka. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple Feb. 21, 1964. Ann passed away October 15, 2015. David was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During his years as bishop of Eureka Ward, he worked tirelessly alongside ward members to raise the funds needed to build a new chapel in Eureka. He always remembered and was grateful for the outpouring of support from friends and neighbors of all faiths in Eureka. He loved Eureka and was an active volunteer firefighter for many years. Most in Eureka remember him as the voice of the annual 4th of July activities, where he served with gusto as the announcer for the races and events of the day. A love for music followed David all of his life, and he learned as a child to play the guitar and ukelele. He loved playing and singing with his brother Fred, and the two of them played at events all throughout the state for many years, including the community s production of Hee-Haw for the Tintic Silver Festival. He also may call at a viewing Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 6 to 8, at Brown Family Mortuary in Santaquin, Utah, and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in Eureka prior to funeral services.

OBITUARIES continued made it a Christmas tradition at Eureka Ward to play his special rendition of Silent Night with other musicians in the ward. A miner by trade, David worked in several mines throughout the Tintic area, including the Dragon Mine in Mammoth. He later worked at U.S. Steel s Quigley Quarry in Genola for many years. He retired from Ensign-Bickford in Spanish Fork. David still maintained friendships with many coworkers even decades later, and he cherished his friendships and associations with them.
