CWF/DW CORNER Mike White spoke to the Priscilla Group and other members of the church on his experience serving 2 years in the Peace Corp, 1964-65, in Liberia. Some of the group were engineers who dug wells, some worked in the health area, and Mike taught students who themselves were already teaching in that country. It was so interesting to hear him tell his story. Thank you, Mike!! The Rummage Sale was a great success. Thanks to the many donations and the hard work of so many to make it a success. We cleared $3,200! Special thanks to Valetha Ermoian for organizing everything and to those who helped set up tables and price everything. The Executive Board will meet on Tuesday, March 14, 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Janice Kriegel and Jean McAtee will provide refreshments. The Prayer Group will meet at 10 a.m. on March 21. The CWF will provide drinks, chips and cookies when Lakewood hosts the Lenten Luncheon on April 5. It will start at noon and lasts about an hour, with a meditation by Rev. Richard Roland. ***************************************************************************** LOAF The LOAF Group will meet Thursday, March 2, in the Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m. A potluck luncheon will be served at noon. Lana Gilbert is hostess with help from Gloria Walker. DID YOU KNOW? Well, Easter will be here before you know it. I understand that Lakewood CC, Central Christian CC, Richfield CC and Clay Avenue CC will be joining together for an EASTER EGG HUNT to be held at Lakewood. Jennifer Roach, Jennifer Scott and our youth group will be helping coordinate this fun event. Jennifer Roach, Janice Kriegel and I rescued the 8 million plastic Easter eggs we had in the basement. We hauled them up to a holding area in the church, BUT they need to be cleaned. So, on behalf of Jennifer Roach, I am enlisting help from our church family in cleaning the eggs. Please get in touch with Jennifer at 749-8581 and set a time to pick up some of the eggs to be cleaned. She will instruct you on how to do this. Thanks for your help with this project. Linda Ferguson

Eight (8) blankets have been given to our Lakewood family since our last meeting in November, and our stock of completed blankets is depleted. If your schedule does not allow you time to join us, donations of fleece material (3 yards)(1 1/2 print/1 1/2 solid) or a gift card to JoAnn's Fabrics would be very helpful to keep our project going, as we are 100% selffunded. Call Marilyn Jackson (749-8036), Sue Lowry (836-4203), or Jean Vestal (717-0316) for more details. Hope you will be there.

Our Lenten season is underway. Minister s Insights and Inspiration This past Wednesday night our Ash Wednesday service was held in our sanctuary. It was a service of thoughtful meditation, liturgy, music and the Imposition of Ashes. On Wednesday, April 5 Lakewood will host the Noon Lenten Series. This will be a brown bag luncheon with our ladies providing drinks, chips and cookies. I will be leading the devotional time. On Saturday morning, April 8, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt on our church lawn sponsored jointly by Lakewood, Central, Richfield and Clay Street Christian Churches. Jennifer Roach is our representative helping plan the hunt. We will need volunteers. The joint Christian Church Maundy Thursday service will be at Central Christian Church on Thursday, April 13 at 7:00. It will be a traditional service led by the ministers of our congregations and some lay representatives. Jimmy Dorrell of Mission Waco/World will be the speaker. Communion will be led and served by the ministers and lay persons from the participating churches. Our young people are active and serving these days in the life of our church. On Sunday, March 12, there will be a young person presenting a Missions Minute in our worship service about a new or used jeans project. Later in the month they will be doing Easter cards. In April they will be helping with the Easter Egg hunt and looking at attending the Casting Crowns concert at the Bell County Expo Center on April 15. For May they are looking at having a lunch after our worship service possibly using our outdoor grill. Our thanks to Jennifer Scott and others for providing the leadership for our youth program. We are in the process of interviewing candidates for our Youth Associate position and hope to have this filled soon. Thanks to our bell choir for two beautiful selections played in our worship service this past Sunday. Members of the bell choir are Roger Bailey, James Browning, Brad Forehand, Carrie Forehand, Linda Jensen and Susan Pardaen. Brad is the Director We are currently undergoing leadership changes in our Christian Church in the Southwest Region and the Trinity Brazos Area. Rev. Dr. Zena McAdams has been named our new Interim Regional Minister. She begins her service to the Region on March 1. Fred Banda will be the Interim Area Minister for the Trinity Brazos Area. Fred is the person we will work with when we begin our search for a full time Senior Minister. Many other regular and special activities are taking place. If you are involved and contributing to the life of Lakewood, thank you! If you are not, the door is always open for you to begin. May God bless and guide us in all that we do. Richard
