For your prayers for the next two weeks Collect for the 11 th Sunday after Trinity (12 th ust) O God, you declare your almighty power most chiefly in showing mercy and pity: mercifully grant to us such a measure of your grace, that we, running the way of your commandments, may receive your gracious promises, and be made partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Collect for the 12 th Sunday after Trinity (19 th ust) Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray and to give more than either we desire or deserve: pour down upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Those who are unwell: Martin Over, Garth Lewis, Norah Drew, Les Berry, Taz Poullais and Zofia Dewland. Those to be married: William Smith & Charisse Thomas; Matthew Boyle & Katie Ward. Alpha is an opportunity to explore the Christian faith over 10 weeks. Each session has a meal, followed by a video presentation on a theme, and then a discussion. Alpha is a great way of introducing people to Jesus and what it means to follow him, and also for those who are more familiar with Christianity to look again at some of the central aspects of the faith. So start thinking about who you could invite to Alpha - and maybe even start praying for those people as well! We will need people to be Table Hosts at Alpha - to host a group of guests and to help with the discussion groups each evening. This is a fun and interesting role, and is well worth doing. We will also need people to cook the meals. If you could help with this important aspect of the Course, even just once over the 10 weeks, we would love to hear from you. To be involved in either of these ways, please get in in touch with Paul, Steve, or Mary. St Faith s Vision: Our vision is to be a welcoming progressive Christian community of all ages and all stages of faith, nurturing spiritual growth, and representing God s living presence in our town. 7
