The Compass Study Guide These study pages are for groups and individuals to deepen their reflection on the biblical passages from the sermon and work toward group and personal application of His word. They can be completed in one sitting or over the week. Together, we are learning and living the Bible. Is There Really Only One Way? John 1:29, Ephesians 2:1-10, Romans 10:9 Christians are often confronted or challenged about the claim that there is only One Way to God. Why do you say there is only One Way? What is the main difference between other religions beliefs about salvation and Christianity s claims? Read Ephesians 2:1-10, focusing on vv.8-9. 8

This verse might be a good verse to debate the merits of Christianity and to reject other religions claims. But, how could you frame this truth as good news? Who might need to hear this from you? How would you approach the topic? Read John 1:29, John 14:6 and Galatians 1:9. In light of these verses, why do some people still believe there are many roads to the same mountain top? Many religions offer a works-oriented righteousness; many people are drawn to this. Why? Why are some Christians drawn in to works, righteousness, or legalism? 9

What could be your response to those who believe there are many roads to the same mountain top? (hint: 1 Peter 3:15-16) Read Romans 10:9. Elaborate on two parts of this verse - confess with your mouth and believe in your heart. Explain their meaning. How would you explain this verse to a non-christian? 10 Next Week s Topic/Scripture: Better Families (Series) - Moms 1 Kings 17:7-14
