the RADICAL - April 2016 edition Page 4 Cultivating Good Soil (Luke 8:11-15 GNT) Opening Prayer, Scripture, Creed and Upcoming Announcements. The Seed=the Word of God; the Soil=the Soul (the condition of the Heart) What type of Soil are You? Is God Growing in Your Heart? Prayer Mothers E. Hamilton, A. Brown, K. Daise, and T. Walker assisted the girls. Discovering the wonderful Word of God and how we. 1. Must keep the Word of God close to our hearts with truth and understanding, and not let the evil one snatch it away (seeds that fall on the path). 2. Must not let fear and the temptations of this world take it away (seeds that fall on rocky soil). 3. Must not let worry, selfishness, or greed steal it away (seeds that fall among thorns, weeds). 4. Must grow spiritually and have everlasting life with Jesus (seeds that fall on good soil). Each club demonstrated how after receiving the Word of God, the enemy comes to snatch it away that we get off the right path. Yes, he s subtle, but we learned at Girls Club how to identify his tactics; how to examine the condition of our hearts if slightly infected, we know we can go to God in prayer and He will get us back on path. The Prayer Mothers Ministry recognizes active* girls with birthdays falling in the months of January March. RADgirls received birthday cards signed and presented by their Club s Prayer Mother along with a gift card. the RADICAL - April 2016 edition Page 5 Culmination of our study on The Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:11-15) BlueBelles: Myuana, Makyiah and Anissa 3 A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. JoyBelles: TraNia, Ashlyn and Alexis The girls came forth each holding their seed planted on stony ground and journals with notes how we recognize a stony heart. Seeds are unable to take root on Rocky stony ground because there is very little soil. The plant springs up quickly because the soil is shallow; but when the sun comes up, it s easily scorched and withered because it has no root. The seed falling on rocky ground can be likened to someone who hears the Word and immediately receives it with joy; but since they have no root, it lasts only a short time. Momentary enthusiasm. When trouble or persecution comes because of the Word, they quickly fall away. They hear the Word with joy, but give up as soon as trials come. YLM-Jr: Amari, ShaKira and A Niya girl I went to school today and this girl tried me. I was about to punch her right in her nose; but instead I just walked away and prayed for both of us. 2. girl I woke up this morning and said um not going to school today; but instead I got up and went to school. 3. girl this car pulled up next to me, playing my song...i was just about to start singing; but instead I thought about it and knew God wouldn t be pleased with those lyrics coming out of my mouth. YLM-Sr: Jaliyah, TaMia, Shakara, Hope and TaLia the girls sat attentively as their Counselor gave a teaching from the Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:12). Immediately after service a couple of the girls headed outside to talk about this party they were invited to (their outfits, how are we getting there, wondering who else will be there, etc.). Two of the other girls were still inside talking about the Word and how impactful it was. Finally, we been waiting for yall, what took so long anyhow, what are you wearing to the party, how are we getting there... Hold up, we just walked out of church and yall talking about this party. Did you not hear anything our Counselor said I don t think we should go to this party. What! Girl I have my outfit all laid out, oh I m going somewhere. The other young lady replies: sure we can go somewhere but let s first evaluate the activity. Remember? if we were to ask God if He would be pleased with us going to this party, I m sure He d probably say no. The girls all look at one another. How about we go bowling (it s a more conducive atmosphere and you can still wear your outfit). Yea you re right; we have to be selective about the places we go. So bowling it is! WOMEN S CONFERENCE 2016 Standards of Excellence (ages 12-17) Boca Raton Renaissance Hotel Saturday June 11, 2016 9am $50 (Workshops, Luncheon, Shirt, Evening Event) The Parable of the Two Builders (Matthew 7:24-27) While most attention focuses on building s height, perhaps more important is what lies buried beneath it. Without a solid foundation, the world s tallest building would become the world s longest pile of rubble. The same is true with great lives. What people see what we marvel about are the great heights to which some people seem to soar. Yet, supporting any truly great life is a solid foundation. God views the house we are building (our lives), not by its beauty or outward appearance; but He looks deeper, all the way down to the depth of the foundation. The Importance of the Foundation The Significance of the Temple The Value of the Work It is not enough to know and even believe the Word of God; we must do the Word to have a solid foundation. Training our daughters to walk in God s ways will impact them for eternity. Don t forsake the foundation build on the established rock of the Word of God.
