Your Financial Stewardship For the week ended April 26, 2015 Weekly Joyful Giving Envelopes...... $ 20,298.00 Offertory Collection......... $ 1,520.00 Budgeted Weekly Joyful Giving $22,660 This weekend we welcome our children who are making their First Holy Communion! We will likely be a little more full than usual this weekend so we beg your gracious patience as we welcome extended families from other parishes to join us here. This weekend the children will be bringing up the gifts, and sometimes doing the readings, so you may have to bend your ear a bit more than usual. The kids are very excited. I am excited too. Any time we celebrate a child s sacrament it is often an opportunity for God to bless the whole family of the child. Seeing the openness of a child to God reawakens a spark within the hearts of Mom and Dad to seek God anew. I have seen more families renewed in faith, start again, and reshuffle their busy schedule to include some Mass time that works for them. They begin again in picking up the challenge to pass on the experience of our good God. Parenting is not easy and we want to help as a parish. Making sure our kids have a living experience of prayer, God, the Church and music is all essential to a great childhood. So well done in bringing them here and know that we pray for our families! All of us can deepen our appreciation of the Eucharist. One way is to participate occasionally in our St. Bernard monthly Holy Hour. In response to a request from Bishop Ricken that each parish in the Diocese provide a Eucharistic Holy Hour each month, our Holy Hour at St. Bernard is held the 1st Tuesday of each month. (Except the 2nd Tuesday in June on the 9th). The Tuesday Holy Hour follows a full day of Adoration in the little Chapel after which the Holy Eucharist is moved to the main Altar in the big church at 6:30 PM. The Holy Hour concludes by 7:30pm with a formal prayer and then a Eucharistic Blessing (Benediction). We are especially graced with the talent of ten year-old, Izabella Sand who provides beautiful background harp music during some of our Holy Hour reflection time. Everyone is invited to participate in this special time in our parish. Any questions, please contact Deacon Larry at 468-4922. Fr. Mark Vander Steeg The Parish Office will be closed Thursday May 7, 2015. The Office staff will be attending a Diocesan Stewardship Day. We will be open again on Friday May 8. Bishop s Appeal Total as of April 28, 2015 $ 88,335.70
