Greater Things Update In 2016, we began an initiative entitled Greater Things. The goal of this campaign is simple: to bring God glory, to grow His church, and to impact our community. God led us to purchase over 100 acres off Highway 96 for the future growth and development of our Victory Sports ministry. While several of our pastors had been praying for this land for over a decade, God allowed us to purchase it at the right time, and for the right price. The church overwhelmingly approved the purchase of this land for the creation of a Victory Sports complex. First and foremost, this project is for the glory of God. We also said that we want to do Greater Things for the sake of our church and its people. That s why we included improvements to our current campus and facilities as we planned this initiative. God established the church, Jesus died for the church, and one day He will return for His church. We have been very blessed by the favor of the Lord throughout our history as a church. And God is preparing us for an incredibly bright and effective future as we follow Him in obedience. Third, we want to do Greater Things for our community. We want to serve and impact our community with the gospel of Christ. The Lord has given us many opportunities already through Victory Sports, WOW nights during the summer, Mission Warner Robins, ONEWAY, Adventure Camp, and so many other ways. Upward and Victory Sports comprise the largest and most effective outreach of our church. God has positioned us to expand these ministries to reach more people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Have we made any progress since we began our Greater Things initiative? What has happened since we started Greater Things? I m glad you asked. Very soon after we announced this initiative, we were able to coat and seal our parking lot on our main campus. We have plans to coat and seal the parking lot around our Youth Activities Center as well. Also, we have started the project of recarpeting the Family Life Center. This was definitely a needed task and it already looks so much nicer throughout. Take some time and walk around. You ll be amazed at the improvement! Third, we have installed a new campus-wide video camera network. This adds to our security in every area of our property, including our student and children s areas. Watch for other improvements that are on the way. We plan to design and theme the last hallway of our children s wing and we are working on electronic check-in for childcare, nursery, and children. Currently, we are working to rezone a portion of the property we purchased off of Highway 96. The front portion is zoned as commercial property but the back is zoned as agricultural. We need to have the back portion zoned commercial so we can start to work on the land. Another item of importance is the construction of a deceleration lane that will turn into the newly-named Victory Way. We are confident that the city of Warner Robins and the state DOT will come together and make this possible. As you can see, a lot has been done, but there is so much more to come! We are excited for the days ahead and for how the Lord will use Second Baptist Church for His Kingdom and for His glory. Please continue to pray as the Lord leads us each step of the way.

Promotion Sundays On Sunday, June 4th, all students who have completed 4th grade through 12th grade will promote to the next grade for Life Groups. This will prepare all the new youth for Beach Retreat and the new preteen for Preteen Camp! All babies through those who have completed 3rd grade will not promote until Sunday, August 6th. Preteen Luncheon We are inviting all rising 5th and 6th graders, and their families, to our Welcome to Preteen luncheon on Sunday, June 4th. We will meet in the Family Life Center immediately after the morning service. Come join us as we discuss all the exciting things we do in the Preteen Department. This is also a great time to meet the leaders and teachers. Sunday Night Summer Schedule On Sunday, June 4th, we will begin meeting for Sunday Evening Worship at 6:00 PM during the summer months. There will be no Disciple University, Children s Choir, or Adult Choir prior to the service. We will continue this time change until July 30th. With school starting back on August 2nd, we will wait until August 6th to resume our 6:30 PM time. On August 6th, new Disciple University classes will begin and all regular 5:15 PM activities will resume. Beach Retreat We will have our Beach Retreat meeting on Sunday, June 4th, at 5:00 PM. We will meet in the YAC Auditorium to discuss everything you will need for the trip as well as contact and schedule information. At least one parent or guardian needs to be present at this meeting to gather important information. We ll see you there! Also, as a church family, let s make sure to pray for those attending Beach Retreat 2017. Pray for the Lord to work in each life and grow them closer to Him! Our ONEWAY Kids ministry is in desperate need of help! If you can serve on Friday nights, please stop by our table in the Grand Lobby or email Chris Lones at chrisl@ sbcwr.org. You don t have to serve every Friday and you don t have to serve in every area. Every little bit can help. Let s love on these kids and show them how much Jesus loves them as well. Happy Father s Day! We say a Happy Father s Day to all of the dads out there as well as the men who have been like a dad to many others. We are thankful for the leadership you give to our family and how you guide us in loving the Lord. You will probably never know exactly how much you impact us each day. We are blessed to have you as our dad and we hope you have a GREAT day! To show our appreciation, we will have a Candy Bar set up for you in the Grand Lobby on June 18th. Make sure you grab a bag at any of the various locations and pick out the candy bars you love! It s the least we can do to show how much we love you! Thank you Dad! Baby Dedication We are having baby dedication on Sunday, June 18th, (Father s Day) during our morning Worship service. Please email a good quality family picture, the name of your baby being dedicated, the name of the parents, and the name of the grandparents to Mrs. Donna Chance at children@sbcwr.org. All of this information needs to be turned in to her no later than June 11th. WOW nights are back this summer! These are specific Wednesday evenings where we go into the community to love on our neighbors in small and big ways. This year we are adding a couple of new events to the schedule too. On June 14th and 21st we will meet at Fountain Park on Kimberly Road here in Warner Robins and on June 28th and July 12th we will meet up at North Peach Park in Byron. We will meet at each park from 6:15 PM - 7:15 PM. We will invite people in our communities to come play games, have a popsicle, and hear a short devotion. Then we will meet at Olympia Skate Center on July 19th for a night of skating. Admission is covered, but you may want to bring some money for snacks and roller blade rentals. July 26th will be our Water Night right here on campus. And we will conclude with a movie night on August 2nd. WOW Wednesdays are for all kids up through preteens. Come join us as we hang out together, have some fun, and impact our community with the great news about Jesus!

The Summer Session of Tasting Grace will be Saturday, July 15th in the Hangar Kitchen from 10:00AM to Noon. Jan and Jan are going to take advantage of all the wonderful summer fruits and vegetables available this time of year! So the menu will include a wonderful FRUIT PIZZA and a delicious classic SQUASH CASSEROLE! Sign ups will begin Sunday June 18th. Our Grace Tables ministry continue to be a blessing and sweet source of fellowship. Don t forget your Grace Tables questions may be found here in the Second Family Magazine, on our women s ministry website at secondfamily.tv, and on the Facebook Women s Ministry page as well. Stay connected this summer and savor the season! GRACE Tables - For June, our focus verse is Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us, 2 keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 1. How do you persevere through all the challenging (or ordinary) circumstances of life? 2. The Christian life is pictured as a long-distance race rather than a short sprint. How are we to run? 3. What comforts do you run to when God s call seems too big or the weight of your circumstances seems to be too much to bear? Do these comforts become distractions (encumbrances) in your walk with the Lord? If so, how? 4. What are the benefits of choosing to persevere all the way through your circumstances to the finish? Portland Mission Trip Please continue to pray for those going to Portland, Oregon, from June 27th through July 3rd. They will be partnering with Remedy City Church and Josh and Amy Carter to reach the people of Portland for Jesus. Pray they are able to connect with people and build relationships among the people of Portland and connect them to Remedy City Church. We look forward to hearing all God does on this trip. 40 Days of Eternal Significance During the past few years, and more specifically during the summer, we have focused on one area of being a disciple for Christ. We learned how to CONNECT, GROW, and SERVE. This year we are focusing on bringing all three of these topics together in order to IMPACT our community, nation, and world for Christ. On June 25th, we will begin our churchwide series entitled, Impact: 40 Days of Eternal Significance. Each sermon topic will focus on a specific area of how to impact others for Christ. We will have special curriculum for our Life Groups each Sunday morning and we will have devotion books available for each day. As we go through this material in Life Groups and reiterate it through Worship, we will learn the truths of how to impact our world for the Lord. Then, the devotion books will bring everything together during the week. They will help engage us to put into practice what we learn on Sunday morning. Please join us during this special six weeks as we discover what it really means to impact those around us through connecting them to Christ, teaching them how to grow in His Word and with other believers, and demonstrate complete service to Him. Preteen Camp Registration for Preteen Camp is open now! This is for all students entering the 5th and 6th grades. We will be going back to the FFA/FCCLA Camp near Covington, GA, July 10th through 12th. We will have Pastor Ben Hunley leading Bible Studies for the boys and Mrs. Leia Hunley leading Bible Studies for the girls! With exciting Bible Studies, fun music, crazy games, a huge slip-n-slide, and THE BLOB, Preteen Camp 2017 is going to be loads of fun and will help Preteens stay focused on the Lord this summer! Pick up a brochure in the Grand Lobby and register today!
