St. Anne s News & Events PROMISES Today s liturgy is full of promises. The reading from Genesis promises a final triumph over the power of sin and a return to a new creation. The reading from Second Corinthians promises that all who follow Christ will have to struggle. It also promises, however, that we can persevere if we but recognize that Christ is within us, renewing us daily, and giving us the courage and the strength we need to endure. The Gospel promises that doing God s will makes us family with Jesus, who forgives all sin and triumphs over evil. Today might be a good day for us to make some promises as well. We can promise to stop kidding ourselves about our own tendencies to selfishness and sin. We can promise ourselves to believe really believe that while we are not sinless, we are forgiven. We can promise ourselves to combat evil and sin by acting as sisters and brothers not only to the Lord, but to one another as well. Father s Day Breakfast June 17th after 8:30 am Mass Hosted by the Altar Society Italian Marble Crosses Made from the sanctuary of the original St. Anne Church FOR SALE June 16th and 17th $25.00 each Proceeds go to The Holy Name Society Pardon our Dust What s happening around here??? May was a busy month for Scott and Fr George in terms of maintenance and building projects, so we ll try to give you more regular updates until things get completed and activity slows down. As with most projects one seems to lead to another. One of our goals was to clean up the old Grounds Electrical distribution area adjacent to the rectory site. The 800Amp service was actually costing us a premium even though we were actually using less than 100Amps at any one time - we were also paying for the availability of that amount of service! So the roughly 52 square foot area of panels, breaker, switches, raceways and junction boxes was replaced by one 2.5sq foot panel! So besides having the area look SO MUCH better, we are also saving money! To do that we had to relocate the lean-to that housed the tractor to the U-building area. A cement pad has been poured to accommodate a new structure that will house the tractor and the grass cutting implements that had been left out in the elements - they will soon have a closed in secure home. The fountain on the plaza of the Family Life Center is now awaiting tiling and the arrival of the fountain dishes. Our hope is that this new ascetically pleasing structure will increase our rental opportunity for the hall so that it can generate more revenue to help pay for itself. Our debt on that building still has a long way to go and it really needs to help pay for itself. (BTW, this project was paid for by a one of our parishioners - you know who you are - THANK YOU!) Most of the old overhead wiring and power poles that had been scattered throughout the property have been removed. Where necessary, wiring has been located underground. The Eagle Scouts of Troop 602 have been very busy with projects over the past year as well having erected a firewood lean-to and re-landscaped the area across the parking lot from SVDP. The overgrown fountain and pump shed were removed and the area is no longer unsightly and dangerous. They will also soon be cleaning and repairing the Bell Tower and adding much needed storage space to the FLC! (YAY!).More on that over the next few months. Some tree and concrete slab removal that have caused very dangerous trip ledges will also be going on. The last immediate project that needs to be taken care of is the removal of the old maintenance workshop which is infested with hazardous mold due years of roof leakage and flooding from heavy rains. Some exterior work on the church will also be happening soon to replace some of the warped or damaged siding on the south and west ends. THANK YOU for your patience, support and understanding, as we work hard to continue our hard (sometimes messy) work, to improve our St Anne s home! We ll give another update soon!
