The e-messenger Broad Street United Methodist Church December 18, 2013 Calling all singers, choir members, praise team singers, N*Light*N alumni, etc. You are invited to sing with the Christmas Eve Choir for our three Candlelight/Communion Services in the Broad Street Sanctuary. The choir will sing On Christmas Night, arranged by Walter Pelz, for SATB choir and handbells. We will also lead the congregation in singing Christmas carols for the hymns, during Communion, and during the candlelighting. Rehearsals and services are scheduled as follows: Thursday, December 19 immediately after Connections Praise Team, 8:00pm in Triplett Hall Monday, December 23 at 5:15pm, before the 6:00pm service. Tuesday, December 24 at 4:15pm, before the 5:00pm service Tuesday, December 24 at 10:15pm, before the 11:00pm service. If you can attend one or two of these rehearsals and services, please come and sing with us! To sign up, send an email to Cynthia@bsumc.org. Ann McCarley and Yvette Mehling invite you to join them on Tuesday, December 31 at 4:30pm to circle the church block in prayer. The goal is to take steps of faith as we pray for church and community in preparation for 2014. Circle the block in prayer once or several times it s completely up to you. Everyone is invited - whether you circle the block on your feet, using a walker, wheelchair, stroller, or wagon. Bring your bottled water, hot chocolate or coffee. But most of all, bring There will be three services in the BSUMC Sanctuary for Christmas Eve Candlelight and Holy Communion. Monday, December 23 at 6:00pm and Tuesday, December 24 at 5:00pm we will have the annual Blessing of the Babies, and present each child born since last Christmas with a special gift. Tuesday, December 24 at 11:00pm will be the traditional carol service that ends at midnight with the ringing of Handbells, welcoming the birth of the Christ Child. All three services will include the singing of carols, ringing of handbells, celebration of communion, and lighting the candles. Come and celebrate Christmas at Broad Street! Sunday evening sessions will begin on January 5 at 6:00pm. McKay, Sweeny and Wills families will provide light dinner that evening. Our Final Retreat will be held at Johnston Woods on January 10-11. Retreat forms and fees are now due. Please turn in to Mary Ketchersid as soon as possible.

CHRISTMAS TOYS for Honduras project. Our church in Morazan plans to give toys and food to 200 or more children during Christmas. They do this yearly with our help. If you would like to help, send a donation to the church marked Honduras toys. Water Distribution More and more clean water is flowing in our communities in Honduras. Because of this we need your help to help pay the people that work in the area, cleaning bottles, delivering water, and getting the word out. This is a good problem to have. Checks can be sent to the church office. February 2014 Mission Team Meeting Sunday, January 5, at 4:00pm, the Honduras Mission Team will meet at Bill & Jackie s house to finalize plans for the upcoming trip. Come with questions, concerns, excitement. We will go over plans and details for the trip and what we will be doing. You will get your team t-shirt and itinerary. RSVP to 476-7370.
