TRINITY REFORMED CHURCH MAY 2016 connections There is a song on the Christian radio stations right now that has this refrain, God is on the move, on the move Hallelujah God is on the move In many mighty ways God is on the move, on the move Hallelujah God is on the move On the move today I believe this song articulates what I see happening at Trinity Church! God is continuing to do many wonderful and mighty acts in our church and community. Lives are being changed, people are reading and hearing God s Word for the first time and we can see growth all around us! Many of the good things that we see happening are the outflow of our Forward in Faith Ministry Vision that we began back in 2014. This Ministry Vision brought together many physical and staff projects. We can see the fruit of these developments over the past couple years. As we look to completing all of our projects in 2016, we wanted to give you an update on our progress and initiatives for this year. There are four areas of focus for 2016 that are listed here: Lighting Updates: We will updating all of our florescent lights with high efficient LED lights throughout the church building. Fixing Our Elevator Lift: We have an added project based on savings from our lighting updates. This project will fix our elevator lift which goes between the main and lower levels. Internships: We are excited to have Maddie Auriemma on board for a summer internship working alongside Pastor Phil with our youth groups. We will also be looking into having other interns before the end of this year. Pastor of Senior Adult Ministry and Care: We are grateful for Pastor Deb s faithful ministry in our congregation and look forward to her continued ministry here at Trinity. Financially we are doing great! Your gifts have blessed our ministry and have allowed us to engage with our community effectively. We ask that you continue to give generously to fulfill your pledges and go beyond if you are able. The Consistory is in the process of holding a celebration of Forward in Faith in October. We look forward to sharing with you the results of this entire Ministry Vision as well as casting a vision with you for the future. Blessings, Pastor Chris and the Consistory

4 As many of you have seen, our garden is SOW AND GROW COMMUINITY GARDEN starting to look like a garden! Well, at least there is something happening at the beginning of our drive. We have tarps down to help clear the area of unwanted growing, and Saturday, April 23 we had about 20 people come to help construct the boxes needed, dig holes and put poles in for the fence, put the fence gate on and hook up a water spiket to provide us with a water source closer to our garden area. So far, we have 18-19 boxes reserved for a lot of great health growing and community time together! Here are a few of the pictures of a great day, perfect weather and excellent community work. Thank you one an all for your support and prayers; stay tuned for more to come! Sow and grow to yield good friends and good food

8 Grumble Not During Lent many of us wore the purple bracelet that prompted us to not grumble. The grumble not exercise was a reminder of how much the Israelites grumbled during their journey through the wilderness and how much we grumble every day. Grumble is defined as to complain in a surly manner; mutter discontentedly, complain sullenly. One source even defined grumbling as to make a low rumbling or quietly express your bad temper. So, what did we learn from this experience? What did we grumble about? Interesting thoughts and observations from the post-it board: the bracelet reminded me often of how much I complain, roads are tough places to not complain or grumble, having kids makes this (not grumbling) harder!, I get hungry a lot and grumble, I complain most in the car or as a grumpy mom. Observations: I catch myself grumbling much more with the bracelet a nice reminder, the things I grumble about most often are the things I m most passionate about, grumbling is like darkness God is Light and in Him is no darkness, there is a difference between lament and grumbling. So, what is lament? Lament is defined as to express sadness, grief or sorrow about something Lament, used as a noun, can also be a song or poem of mourning. The choice is yours!!! Will your life exhibit the light of God or will you be known as a grumbler - seeing only darkness?
