TABERNACLE AT WORSHIP RESPONSIVE READING * Patricia & Sabrina Pinnix Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: All: FAMILY ` Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him, "Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking for you." And he replied, "Who are my mother and brothers?" And looking at those who sat around him, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother." Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish? Or if the child asks for an egg, will give a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, "Woman, here is your son." Then he said to the disciple, "Here is your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home. Above all, clothe yourself with love, which binds, everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is your acceptable duty in the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, or they may lose heart.

WORD FROM PASTOR Greetings, Beloved. I take this opportunity to welcome all of our special guests in today's worship service, celebrating Family & Friends Day. We are delighted that you have chosen to worship with us. Today is a fitting conclusion to a long week of revival and yesterday's Neighborhood Outreach. Special thanks to Helen Wallace, her planning committee, and other leaders, for coordinating our festivities and leading us in this ministry event. We host a special guest choir from Atlanta, Georgia, today in worship. The Shiloh High School Choir is acclaimed as a phenomenal singing group, having won recent competitions. Beyond their music, they provide scholarship support for graduating senior members of their choir. We will support this initiative with a free-will offering during the offertory period. Along with the choir, The V Girls have come to minister to us, through dance. They have blessed us before and I look forward to their ministry. This Friday, August 26, the Men of Tabernacle will Fellowship at Miller Park, for the Brewers vs. Cubs game. Deacons Alfred Seuell and Carl Ballard, along with Jonathan Seuell have coordinated this event, and will distribute tickets for confirmed attendees today. We will conclude our month of activities with the celebration of Annual Missions Day next Sunday, August 28 th. Let us pray for a wonderful celebration for this ministry of our church. Before I conclude this note to you, I should like to thank Tabernacle for its support of my ministry this month. Your participation at the annual session of the state convention and presence during last week's revivals meant more to me than you know. I am proud to lead this congregation. Have a wonderful week! ***** ORDINARY TIME In the context of the liturgical year the term ordinary means not seasonal. It is that part of the church year that lies outside the seasons of Lent-Easter and Advent- Christmas. In Ordinary Time, the Church celebrates the mystery of Christ not in one specific aspect but in all its aspects. Ordinary Time in the Church s year occurs in two sections. The first part begins following the Christmas season. It lasts through the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, and resumes after Pentecost. The Liturgical color for Ordinary Time is green.
