Order of Worship June 17th, 2018 Desire lies at the heart of who God made us to be, who we are at our core. Desire is both our greatest frailty and the mark of our highest beauty. Our desire completes us as we become One with our Lover, and it separates us from Him and brings death as it wars against His will. Dan Allender, To Be Told: Know Your Story, Shape Your Future The greatest enemy of hunger for God is not poison but apple pie. It is not the banquet of the wicked that dulls our appetite for heaven, but endless nibbling at the table of the world. It is not the X-rated video, but the prime-time dribble of triviality we drink in every night. John Piper, A Hunger for God FOMO [ fear of missing out ] is real just as longings are real, and the fast track to the future carries along my desire, making it feel out of reach and unavailable to me, but available for what seems like everyone else. Mollie Johnson, Being Single Lover, I'm off the streets I'm gonna go where the bright lights And the big city meet With a red guitar, on fire Desire U2, Desire GATHERING IN GOD S PRESENCE Come Thou Fount Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above; Praise the mount! I m fixed upon it, Mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer, hither by thy help I ve come; And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor daily I m constrained to be; Let that grace, now, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee: Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love: Here s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above. v. 4 by Joel A. Erickson, 2006 Text by Robert Robinson, 1758. Tune by Asahel Nettleton, 1825.

CALL TO WORSHIP Good, Good Father I've heard a thousand stories, Of what they think You re like But I've heard the tender whisper, Of love in the dead of night You tell me that You re pleased, And that I'm never alone You're a Good Good Father, It's who You are, It's who You are, It's who You are And I'm loved by You, It's who I am, It's who I am, It's who I am I've seen many searching for answers, Far and wide But I know we're all searching for answers, Only You provide Because You know just what we need, Before we say a word You are perfect in all of Your ways, You are perfect in all of Your ways You are perfect in all of Your ways to us Love so undeniable I can hardly speak, Peace so unexplainable I can hardly think As You call me deeper still, As You call me deeper still, As You call me deeper still, Into love love love Anthony Brown Pat Barrett 2014 Capitol CMG Paragon (Admin. by Capitol CMG Publishing) How Rich A Treasure We Possess How rich a treasure we possess in Jesus Christ our Lord His blood our ransom and defense, His glory our reward The sum of all created things are worthless in compare For our inheritance is Him, Whose praise angels declare How free and costly was the love displayed upon the cross While we were dead in untold sin the Sov'reign purchased us The will of God the Father demonstrated through the Son The Spirit seals the greatest work, the work which Christ has done How vast and measureless the flood of mercy unrestrained The penalty was paid in full, the spotless Lamb was slain Salvation what a priceless gift, received by grace through faith We stand in robes of righteousness, we stand in Jesus' Name For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, amen Matt Boswell Matt Papa 2010 Dayspring Music, LLC

CALL TO CONFESSION Confession of Sin Our Father, forgive us for thinking small thoughts of you and for ignoring your greatness. Lord Jesus, forgive us when we forget that you rule the nations and our small lives. Holy Spirit, we so often minimize your power and squander your gifts. We confess that our blindness to your glory, O triune God, has resulted in shallow confession, tepid conviction, only mild repentance, and a slowness to open our hearts and lives to people of other lands, tongues, and races. We praise you that in Christ Jesus the barriers that divide have been torn down and the peace of the Gospel can reign in their place. Deliver us from the sins of fear and prejudice. Reconcile us to you once again so that we may be agents of your reconciliation. In Jesus name, Amen. Silent Confession Assurance of Pardon If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All of this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation... For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5: 17-18, 21 Great Is Thy Faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father! There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not: As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be. Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness, Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness, To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide, Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! Great is Thy Faithfulness, by Thomas O. Chisholm, William M. Runyan. Copyright? 1923, renewed 1951, Hope Publishing Company. Kelly Whitener Your Labor is not in Vain Ethan Smith MESSAGE Feeling Full(ness) When You Are Hungry Ethan Smith 14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith--that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19 Leader: This is the word of God for the people of God. Congregation: Thanks be to God. *Children return to join their families* GATHERING AT THE LORD S TABLE Leader: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. Leader: Lift up your hearts. All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. PRAYER OF BELIEF Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross, and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as Savior and Lord. Amen. We're Redeemed Though our bodies here will fade, Though our strength grows tired and breaks And the breath that s in our lungs, Will pass away It may seem that death has won, That our final song is sung But we re redeemed, We will see him face to face

We re redeemed, we re redeemed, Hallelujah we re redeemed We re redeemed all our sin is washed away, We are sick and we are sore We are tired and we are poor, We re redeemed all our sin is washed away Though the nations war and rage, Though the battle drums will play And the light seems so dim against the night, Though the darkness here is strong And the morning tarries long, We re redeemed he will chase the night away Though there s hunger and there s strife, Suffering comes to every life Though the pain we bear makes it hard to sing, There s a song we ve yet to hear A melody that s ringing clear, Come and drink be forever satisfied Let us wash away our tears, And forget our every fear And remember how our sin was washed away, It was our guilt it was our blame He took the cross despised the shame, We re redeemed a wounded savior is our plea Words and music by Chuck Hooten and Jeff Heine O Love That Will Not Let Me Go O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee I give thee back the life I owe, That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be O Light that follow st all my way, I yield my flickering torch to thee My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in thy sunshine s blaze its day May brighter, fairer be O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain That morn shall tearless be O Cross that lifteth up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee I lay in dust life s glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be O Love that Will Not Let Me Go, words by George Matheson, 1882. Tune by Albert L. Peace, 1885. New tune by Chris Miner, 1994. BENEDICTION May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13
