The ST. VINCENT DE PAUL COLLECTION will take place this weekend. In the past 3 months the St. Vincent de Paul Society has helped 22 families in need, spending over $6000 to provide assistance with utilities, food, clothing, shelter, travel, auto maintenance and other needs. With the State s current financial situation, the need for help is greater than ever. We ask that you continue to be as generous as you have been previously so that we can reach out to those less fortunate. Thank you. The St. Vincent de Paul Society received donations from an Anonymous donor and from Cathy Kosciol. Thank you very much! Pope Leo XIII personally started the practice of devoting October to the Rosary devotion. In a letter of September 1, 1883, mindful of the Rosary's power to strengthen faith and foster a life of virtue, he outlined the triumphs of the Rosary in past times and admonished the faithful to dedicate the month of October to the Blessed Virgin through the daily recitation of her Rosary in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, in order to obtain through her intercession the grace that God would console and defend His Church in her sufferings. America Needs Fatima: A Rosary procession will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 9:30am in West Hartford, corner of North Main St./Farmington Av. Please join us and the Knights of Columbus as we process and pray the rosary for America and world peace. On street parking available, or public parking on Brace Rd. The exhibition provides an historical retrospective of the war and includes interactives, images and artifacts from the Knights of Columbus Museum collection, Supreme Council archives and borrowed materials from private lenders and organizations. A series of WWI-related lectures and presentations will be offered throughout the course of the exhibition. Knights of Columbus Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest K of C Council 1155 is sponsoring this contest for all Manchester area Catholic students in grades 8-12 (parochial & public schools). The topic and a brief description are provided below. Topic: How does your family keep its Catholic faith in action? Faith in action is love, and love in action is service. By transforming that faith into living acts of love, we put ourselves in contact with God himself, with Jesus our Lord. In an essay of 500-750 words, reflect on how your family puts its Catholic faith in action, every day. This could be through daily prayers as a family, volunteering to help the less fortunate in your community, or even just reminding those in your life of how much they mean to you. Entry forms and contest guidelines can be found at www.kofccouncil1155.org. Entry forms and submitting essays can be mailed to: Knights of Columbus Council 1155, P.O.
