Hymnals also may be donated in honor of an individual or of a family event, such as a baptism, special birthday, or another celebration - maybe even as a gift for someone special. The donor and the person being honored are recognized on a special memorial plate in the front of each book. (see below). This is a wonderful way to remind us to pray for someone. And not only would you be praying for this individual, but also would anyone who opens that hymnal to see that individual s name. The cost to memorialize a hymnal is $20. Please see insert for more information. To submit names of people who are in need of prayers, please contact the parish office, 675-2303, and their names will be published in the parish bulletin. Please remember St. Augustine in your will.
St. Augustine and St. Mary have chosen to offer small group opportunities for increasing our faith during Lent using Living the Eucharist program. Participants will learn about and discuss topics related to the Sacrament of the Eucharist and prepare for the upcoming Sunday Mass by reflecting on a selection from the Sunday Mass readings. Each group will meet weekly for about 90 minutes. The Small Group Participant booklet provides all the materials for the group and there is a Small Group Leader Guide that contains everything the leader would need to plan and lead the meeting. Would you be interested in being a member of a small faith group using Living the Eucharist (Booklet $5) to meet once a week for 90 minutes during Lent (6 times)? Knights of Columbus John E. O Brien Council, No. 3361 P.O. Box 795 Oak Harbor, Washington 98277 PENNIES FOR HEAVEN The Knights of Columbus in the State of Washington proudly bears the title of Penny Pincher!! In 1959 the Washington State Knights of Columbus, concerned about vocations, came up with the idea of A Penny-A-Day & A Prayer A-Day for vocations. Thus the Pennies for Heaven program was born. Once a penny falls into the grasp of a conscientious member it goes out of circulation until he deposits it into the Council s Pennies for Heaven barrel. In 1976, in consultation with the 3 Bishops, it was decided that half of the money would be deposited in long term investments. The other half would be given to the Bishops. Each year, prior to the Knights of Columbus State Convention, councils within the state conduct a drive at their respective churches to solicit funds for the education of seminarians. The Knights of Columbus will be conducting their annual Pennies for Heaven drive at all Masses on the 1 st and 2 nd of March. And, who knows You or a family member may receive the Sacraments from a Priest who was educated with the help from our pennies. Who knows??
If you would like to memorialize a hymnal please provide the information on the form below. It is a likeness of the actual memorial plate that will be placed in the front of each book. Memorializing a hymnal is a wonderful way to remind us to pray for someone. And not only would you be praying for this individual, but anyone who opens that hymnal would see that individual s name, and could also offer a prayer for him or her. The cost to memorialize a hymnal is $20. You can place your Memorial donation along with the memorial plate information in your parish envelope, or in a blue and white envelope which are in the pews and at the parish office. Donation envelopes can be returned to the parish office, or in the offertory collection at our weekend liturgies. Please cut along the dotted line and include the memorial information along with your donation.
