BOTANNIX YOGA STUDIO July - D ecember 2017 About Yoga Teacher Training Botannix Yoga Teacher Training is an internationally recognized yoga teacher training program which includes over 200 hours of training, comprised of lectures, workshops, practices, video and audio recordings, readings and assignments, and plenty of opportunity for students to gain hands- on teaching experience. Our program runs in a small group format (max. 10 students per group) ensuring each individual gets the attention and mentorship they require to feel confident in taking the next steps towards becoming an inspiring and effective yoga teacher. Founded by Dr Jeff Miller BA(Hons) PhD (Psychology) E- RYT(500), Botannix Yoga offers an integrated approach to yoga incorporating hatha yoga practices (asana, pranayama, bhanda) with jnana (scriptural studies), dyana (meditation), bhakti (devotion) and nada (sacred sound), emphasizing physical health, psychological well- being and spiritual growth as the main goals of yogic practices. This program gives students a broad understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of yoga. He is a certified Lotus Flow and Jivamukti Yoga Instructor and is highly- regarded for his creative and thoughtful approach to yoga and his ability to make the ancient teachings relevant to a wide range of people living in the modern western world. 1
Jeff, a doctor of psychology with a specialization in communication & interpersonal relationships, carries with him an in depth understanding of human nature. He combines this knowledge with the ancient techniques of yoga, creating a practice that is personal, heartfelt, uplifting and spiritually supportive. He is known for his focus on self- inquiry, kindness and acceptance, and generosity as a path to greater health, happiness and connectedness. His classes involve a fun and insightful journey through creatively sequenced postures, set to uplifting soundtracks, leaving you enlivened, renewed and awakened to your true self. Over the past 8 years Jeff has been developing and evolving an integrated and cohesive yoga method and teacher training program that provides one of the most comprehensive foundations in both practical and theoretical aspects of yoga that is available in Australia. The training is designed to thoroughly explore the philosophy and physiology of yoga as well as the practical aspects of teaching asana, pranayama and meditation. The course is deliberately eclectic in nature giving students a broad understanding of the many different aspects of yoga practice. Students from all yogic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Format Botannix Yoga Teacher Training runs on Mondays from July to December and includes 15 full- day training sessions, 1 x 4- day retreat/intensive, practical and written exams, written assignments & weekly group practices (attendance required). A maximum of 12 participants are accepted into each training course. Training Weekend Session start and finish times may vary depending content and instructors. A typical study day will be as follows: 9:30-11am 11-1:15pm 1:15-2pm 2-4pm Group practice Lecture Lunch Workshop/ Teaching practical Weekly yoga practice Trainees will be required to attend a minimum of 2 yoga sessions every week for the duration of the study program. 30 standard yoga classes at Botannix Yoga Studio are included in the cost of the program. Please note your certificate of completion cannot be issued until all study and practice hours are complete. Including all assignments & assessments. Retreat/Intensive The 4- day intensive, held at Botannix Blue Mountains Retreat will give trainees the opportunity to be immersed in a yogic environment and will include group practices, lectures, workshops, videos, teaching practice, student presentations and karma yoga. Attendance is required. In the event that the retreat space is not available, the intensive will be held at Botannix Yoga Studio in Botany. 2

Content This program is intentionally eclectic in nature, designed to give students a broad understanding of the many different aspects of yoga. Specifically, the course will cover the following topics: Techniques Training & Practice: asana, pranayama, bandhas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation; including alignment and sequencing. Teaching Methodology: principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, the student s process of learning. Anatomy & Physiology: both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (prana, chakras, nadis, etc.) Communication and interpersonal skills Sanskrit: using the ancient language of yoga Yoga Philosophy: exploration of important yoga texts including The Yoga Sutras, The Bhagavad Gita and The Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers: exploration of what constitutes a yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers. Introduction to pre & post natal yoga. Business skills: Practical tools for the business of yoga. Practicum: practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching, assisting other teachers and hearing/giving feedback. Assessment Accreditation Students will be assessed via short written assignments, 1 x presentation, 1 x Sanskrit quiz, 1 x practical exam and 1 x theory exam.
