1/3 Close of the Commandments & Review Comm. LSC p. 93-100 CONFIRMATION SCHEDULE 2018 - Revised The Close of the Commandments LSC p. 14 What does God say about all these commandments? He says, I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments. (Ex. 20:5-6) 1/3 Luther s Evening Prayer LSC p. 33 I thank you my heavenly Father through Jesus Christ your dear Son that you have kept me this day; and I pray that you would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your Holy Angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen. 1/10 Intro to Apostles Creed Who is God? LSC p. 102-108 1/10 What is a Sacrament? Intro to Baptism LSC p. 202-208 Recite Apostles Creed LSC p. 15-17 The Sacrament of Holy Baptism LSC p. 23 What is Baptism? Baptism is not just plain water, but it is the water included in God s command and combined with God s word. 1/17 1 st Article & Meaning LSC p. 108-112 Which is that Word of God? Christ our Lord says in the last chapter of Matthew: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matt 28:19) 1 st Article Creation LSC p. 15 I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean? I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my senses, and still takes care of them.

1/17 Blessings & Power of Baptism LSC p. 209-216 What benefits does Baptism give? It works forgiveness of sins, rescues from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe this, as the words and promises of God declare. Which are these words and promises of God? Christ our Lord says in the last chapter of Mark: Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16) How can water do such great things? Certainly not just water, but the word of God in and with the water does these things, along with the faith which trusts this word of God in the water. For without God s word the water is plain water and no Baptism. But with the word of God it is a baptism, that is, a life-giving water, rich in grace, and a washing of the new birth in the Holy Spirit, as St. Paul says in Titus, chapter three: He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. (Titus 3:5-8) What does such baptizing with water indicate? It indicates that the Old Adam in us should by daily contrition and repentance be drowned and die with all sins and evil desires, and that a new man should daily emerge and arise to live before God in righteousness and purity forever. 1/24 1 st Article & Meaning Part 2 Humanity & Image of God LSC p. 112-117 Where is this written? St. Paul writes in Romans chapter six: We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. (Rom 6:4) He also gives me clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and home, wife and children, land, animals, and all I have. He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support this body and life. He defends me against all danger and guards and protects me from all evil. All this He does only out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me. For all this it is my duty to thank and praise, serve and obey Him. This is most certainly true.

1/24 Confession LSC p. 217-223 Confession LSC p. 26 What is Confession? Confession has two parts. First, that we confess our sins, and Second, that we receive absolution, that is, forgiveness, from the pastor as from God Himself, not doubting, but firmly believing that by it our sins are forgiven before God in heaven. What sins should we confess? Before God we should plead guilty of all sins, even those we are not aware of, as we do in the Lord s Prayer; but before the pastor we should confess only those sins which we know and feel in our hearts. 1/31 Faith Based Sexual Education 1/31 Faith Based Sexual Education 2/7 2 nd Article & Meaning 2 Natures of Christ LSC p. 119-127 Which are these? Consider your place in life according to the Ten Commandments: Are you a father, mother, son, daughter, husband, wife, or worker? Have you been disobedient, unfaithful, or lazy? Have you been hot-tempered, rude, or quarrelsome? Have you hurt someone by your words or deeds? Have you stolen, been negligent, wasted anything, or done any harm? Guest Speaker on pornography, the dangers and effects 2 nd Article Redemption LSC p. 16 And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. 2/7 Office of the Keys Review Confession & Absolution LSC p. 224-227 Office of the Keys LSC p. 29 What is Office of the Keys? The Office of the Keys is that special authority which Christ has given to His church on earth to forgive the sins of repentant sinners, but to withhold forgiveness from the unrepentant as long as they do not repent. Where is this written? This is what St. John the Evangelist writes in chapter twenty: The Lord Jesus breathed on His disciples and said, Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. (John 20:22-23)

2/14 Ash Wed. 2 nd Article & Meaning Office of Christ LSC p. 127-135 What does this mean? I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord, Who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, 2/14 Ash Wed. 2/21 2/21 Office of the Keys Part 2 LSC p. 227-230 2 nd Article & Meaning Redemption & Atonement LSC p. 134-137 Christ in the Passover Movie & Discussion 2/28 Guest Speaker Human Trafficking Awareness 2/28 Guest Speaker Human Trafficking Awareness 3/7 2 nd Article & Meaning State of Exaltation LSC p. 138-47 That I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, Just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true. What do you believe according to these words? I believe that when the called ministers of Christ deal with us by His divine command, in particular when they exclude openly unrepentant sinners from the Christian congregation and absolve those who repent of their sins and want to do better, this is just as valid and certain, even in heaven, as if Christ our dear Lord dealt with us Himself.

3/7 Christ in the Passover Movie & Discussion Part 2 3/14 3 rd Article & Meaning The Holy Spirit LSC p. 147-157 3 rd Article Sanctification LSC p. 17 I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 3/14 3/21 3/21 The Sacrament of the Altar What & Where LSC p. 231-237 3 rd Article & Meaning Part 2 The Church, Communion of Spirit LSC p. 157-164 The Benefit of Sacrament of Altar LSC p. 237-240 What does this mean? I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. Sacrament of the Altar LSC p. 30 What is the Sacrament of the Altar? It is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ under the bread and wine, instituted by Christ Himself for us Christians to eat and to drink. Where is this written? The holy Evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke, and St. Paul write: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: Take, eat; this is My body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me. In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them saying, Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. What is the benefit of this eating and drinking? These words, Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins, show us that in the Sacrament forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation are given us through these words. For where there is forgiveness of sins, there is also life and salvation. How can bodily eating and drinking do such great things? Certainly not just eating and drinking do these things, but the words written here: Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. These words, along with the bodily eating and drinking, are the main thing in the Sacrament. Whoever believes these words has exactly what they say: forgiveness of sins.

LSC p. 241-245 4/11 3 rd Article & Meaning Part 4 The Resurrection of the Body & Life Everlasting LSC p. 169-173 4/11 Living Your Faith Guest Speaker 4/18 4/18 4/25 Church Learning Fair & Confirmation Recognition Dinner 4/25 Church Learning Fair & Confirmation Recognition Dinner 5/2 Ice Cream Social in Park 5/2 Ice Cream Social in Park In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. Who receives this sacrament worthily? Fasting and bodily preparation are certainly fine outward training. But that person is truly worthy and well prepared who has faith in these words: Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. But anyone who does not believe these words or doubts them is unworthy and unprepared, for the words for you require all hearts to believe. On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ. This is most certainly true.
