Most Frequently Asked Questions About the Central District Christian Education Department King and Queen Pageant 2019 What are the objectives of the King and Queen Pageant? The objective of the King and Queen Pageant shall be to unite and strengthen the Youth Christian Fellowship among the young people of the Central District. Also, the proceeds of this celebration will assist in supporting the Central District Scholarship Fund. These funds will be given to the recipients who qualify for financial assistance according to the District s Criteria. What is the composition of the King and Queen Pageant? Each church that resides within the boundaries of the Central District that has a Christian Education Department and/or Church School Department shall enter a youth couple (male and female) of any age to represent their church as a contestant in the Annual King and Queen Pageant. What must I do to participate? You must submit your completed Entry and Contestant Information Forms along with your picture to your Local Christian Education Director and/or Local Superintendent to be forwarded to the District Christian Education Director and be postmarked by May 10, 2019. You must be a member of a church in the Central District. You must currently and actively participate in at least two (2) of the following: Church School, Youth Bible Study, Youth Choir, Youth Usher Board, Youth Lay, Young People s and Children s Division (YPD), Debutante Masters (DMC), Junior Steward, Junior Trustee or Junior Stewardess, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, Sons of Allen, RAYAC, or Allen Christian Fellowship. You must be willing to raise funds and donate that which is raised to support the Central District Scholarship Fund. No more than two (2) students from any church on the Central District will be awarded the scholarship. All Churches, with or without a contestant, must contribute at least $200 in order to submit applications for the Central District Scholarship.
What is the DEADLINE for the funds to be submitted? All funds should be received on or before May 23, 2019. Funds should be forwarded to Rev. Alvin Jones, Christian Education Director. Where will it be Held? Greater Mount Zion AME Church 215 NW 5th Avenue Dania Beach, Fl 33004 Rev. Paul R. Wiggins, Host Pastor What should I wear? Young men should wear dark suits with ties. Young ladies should wear long or moderate length dresses. NO backs out, thighs or midriff exposed. NO see through clothing. Will I be expected to perform a Talent? Talent may come from a contestant or any representative of the church. Will I receive An Award? Yes, there will be three (3) places awarded. Winners will be determined by the churches reporting the highest amount of money by the reporting deadline of 5/23/19. Winners by church will be ranked according to amounts raised. The Winners (male & female) will each receive an award of $100.00. The First Runners Up (male & female) will each receive an award of $50.00. The Second Runners Up (male & female) will each receive an award of $25.00. Each participant will be hosted at the reception and receive a Certificate of Participation and a gift. Revised 03-17-19
