Veteran s Day Tribute & Military Ministry Sunday We will honor our veterans on Sunday, November 1, with a memorial service for our departed service members, followed by coffee hour in honor of our military personnel and veterans. Second Trays Periodically, we pass a second tray on Sundays to support those causes beyond St. Nektarios. CHURCH GOVERNANCE ANNOUNCEMENTS PARISH COUNCIL The November Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday, November 16, 6:30 p.m. If you would like an item added to the agenda, please contact the church office no later than Wednesday, November 11. Parish council elections - Sunday, November 15 Notice of Parish Council elections will be mailed the first week of November. PROPOSED 2016 BUDGET & OPEN BUDGET MEETING - Monday, November 16, 6:00 p.m. A copy of the completed proposed budget will be available at the information center by Nov.8. An Open Budget Meeting will be held at Monday, November 16, 6:00 p.m. Per the by-laws (Section 3), the Open Budget Meeting is the only time that Parishioners will have the opportunity to discuss the items in the budget. Any member in good standing objecting to the final determination on any line item at the Open Budget Meeting may then request at this meeting that the item be marked for discussion and subsequent vote [at the budget assembly to be held on December 6, 2015]. Per the by-laws, the Assembly can discuss only items marked at the Open Budget Meeting. If no line items are marked, then the Proposed Budget is voted up or down in its entirety.

Enjoy an array of breakfast hor d oeuvres as you stroll among the dining tables to view and vote for your favorite Christmas centerpiece. These centerpieces will be handcrafted and donated by some of our Philoptochos members and parishioners. Prizes will go to 1st and 2nd place winners. At the same time enter your silent auction bid for a chance to win and take home one or more of the fabulous center pieces. Brunch will feature your choice of Quiche Lorraine, Crab and Asparagus Quiche, or Vegetable Quiche each with seasonal fresh fruit medley; pancakes & bacon for the children. We will have assigned seating again this year and will accept individual RSVPs as well as for a full table of 8. For purchase of a full-table we must have all attendee s names as well as full payment before location of table is assigned. Tickets will go on sale Sunday, November 1. If you would wear it to work, to a work related function, or consign it, then that is what Dress for Success Charlotte is looking for. Where to drop off: Hanging items can be hung on the clothing rack inside downstairs lobby next to the collection bins. Please place the shoes, purses and accessories in the bin indicated for Dress for Success Charlotte. When you drop off your donation take a DFSC receipt for your tax records; donations are tax-deductible. A Child s Place: What: 1. Get ready! 2nd Annual Christmas Centerpiece Silent Auction and Competition Looking for 27-30 Centerpieces To be used on the dining tables during the brunch and then sold through a silent auction as part of our fundraiser. Brunch attendees will vote for their favorite centerpiece. First and second place winners will receive a fabulous prize! Centerpiece Guidelines & Information Be proportionate in size to fit on a 5' round table which will be set with 8 place settings. Christmas theme with no restrictions on types of material or decorations, be creative! Bids for the centerpieces will begin at $20 but we hope they will sell for more so please value your centerpieces accordingly. Live plants or flowers will need to be maintained by the donor if turned in prior to Dec. 2. Put your name and phone # on bottom of your donation. The first 15 centerpieces donated by November 19 will be silent auctioned between Sunday, Nov. 22 Sunday, Nov. 29 with the auction open to all parishioners. Those centerpieces will still remain in the Hall to be used during the brunch and also for the contest. The winners of the auction for those centerpieces will be notified the afternoon or evening of November 29. You will be able to pay for them any time between Nov. 29 Dec. 5. and picked up after the brunch on Saturday or on Sunday. Additional centerpieces will be auctioned off during the silent auction at the beginning of the brunch and will be included in the contest as well. These must be delivered by Wednesday, December 2. A sign-up sheet will be at the Philoptochos table during coffee hour beginning November 1 or contact Dee Drobonick at dee.drobonick@allentate.com or 704-641-5960 to let her know you want to participate. This donation is tax-deductible and will be considered an in-kind donation. To receive a donation confirmation for your taxes, turn in your cash register receipts for the centerpiece materials to Dee by December 31, 2015.
