FESTIVAL OF SHARING Thanks to everyone for supporting this mission project. You assembled 35 education kits, 14 health kits, and 2 baby kits. You donated enough money to pay for the kit shipping and also money to purchase blankets for those in need. You are a caring congregation! MOUNTAIN MISSION The Methodist Mountain Mission Truck will be in South Charleston the first week of November to collect your gently used clothing and household items. We received an urgent needs list which includes: New toys and other Christmas gifts for the whole family, new socks and underwear, men s clothing and shoes, and pots and pans. Boxes with these items, sealed with packaging tape, may be stored in the northeast room of the educational wing. The Mission Plant can also use safety pins, toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies. The red crate will be in the lobby to collect these items separately from your other donations. COLLEGE CONNECTIONS OUTREACH The fall connections basket will be in place during October to collect cards, notes and/or treats for our 5 college students: Cole Sesslar, Reed Florence, Danielle Hartman, Marie Egbert, and Brandon McNeil. Please have all items in by October 28 th. Above all, please remember each of these students in your prayers. CHOIR NEWS It s time to think about the Choir Season starting again. All choirs are meeting on Wednesday evenings. The Children s Bell Choir will meet from 5:30 until 6 P.M. and is open to children Kindergarten age and older. This group will perform about once a month and for special services. The Junior Choir which also sings about once month and for special events will meet at 6 P.M. for a half hour. This choir also is for children Kindergarten age and older. This way children can participate in either group or both if they wish. I, also, plan to spend some time at both rehearsals working on some basic musical skills. CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS AND BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION We are still collecting the Campbell Soup Labels and Box Tops for Education for the groups that will use them. The collection box for both of these items is in the Church Street entrance in a silver box marked Campbell Soup Labels and Box Tops for Education. The box is on the table under the quilt and next to the Recycling Greeting Cards basket. Thank you for your support of these projects. CHOIR FEST To all the churches that are participating in the Oct. 21st choir festival at Northridge United Methodist Church. This letter pertains to a Men's Chorus. We would like to have as many men as possible join together to perform two songs at the Choir Fest. The rehearsals will begin Sunday, Sept. 9 - Oct. 21. We will meet every Sunday evening from 6:00-7:00 at Northridge UMC at 4610 Derr Rd. in Springfield. This is a short term commitment for men who like to sing, whether they are in the choir or not and...whether they can sing or not! It's just a fun time to get churches together.
