Sermon Outline Someone once said that Prayer can be one of the sweetest privileges we will ever enjoy on earth and also one of the most difficult struggles we will endure. O Hallesby writes, To pray is to let Jesus glorify His name in the midst of our needs. Richard Foster writes, Prayer is the key to God s heart and the door that the key unlocks and allows us entrance in is Jesus Christ. Richard Foster wrote, To be effective prayers, we must be effective lovers. Andrew Murray wrote, Answered prayer is the interchange of love between the Father and His child. 1. Learn to pray Consistently A few reasons we aren t consistent in prayer: 1st of all because we only pray when we feel like it 2ndly because we don t think it makes a difference Bill Hybels writes, The more you are convinced of God s ability, the more He demonstrates that ability to you. Someone else once said, Our prayers will see answers when we believe in what we ask for. 3rdly because we reserve prayer for the big things, the emergencies of life 4thly because we ve got messed up priorities 5thly because we hope in the wrong thing

Sermon Notes Outline Daniel 6:10 (NLT) says, "But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God." Psalm 55:16-17 (CEV), "I ask for your help, Lord God, and you will keep me safe. Morning, noon, and night you hear my concerns and my complaints." Robert Murray McShane, the great Scottish preacher said, "When a person wakes up in the morning he should seek only one face, and that's the face of God. His soul should only be stretched towards God and before he convenes or communes with another human being, he should seek to commune with God." If we re going to be consistent in prayer: Put prayer at the top of your priority list Reject every interruption that's in your power to reject 2. Learn to pray Honestly Hebrews 4:13, "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." Exodus 5:22-23 (NLT), "Then Moses went back to the Lord and protested, Why have you brought all this trouble on your own people, Lord? Why did you send me? Ever since I came to Pharaoh as your spokesman, he has been even more brutal to your people. And you have done nothing to rescue them! " Jeremiah 20:7 (CEV), "You tricked me, Lord, and I was really fooled. You are stronger than I am, and you have defeated me. St. Theresa said, "Lord, no wonder You don't have too many friends, the way You treat the few that you have." Jeremiah 29:12-13, Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 3. Learn to pray Fervently James 5:16, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." Charles Spurgeon wrote, When they come to pray, some people act like they're ringing the bell at an old church. They grab the rope of prayer and they don't move it and God seeming-

Sermon Outline/Notes ly doesn't hear. Others come and grab the rope of prayer and shake it just a little, barely waking heaven. Then there are those men and women who come to pray and they grab hold of the rope of prayer and they pull it and ring it, and God hears because they pray with fervency. 4. Learn to pray Constantly 1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Never stop praying." First of all, we discover the power of God Ephesians 1:18-20, I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms Secondly, we discover the purpose of God Romans 8:28, We know that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Thirdly, we discover the peace of God Philippians 4:6-7, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Lastly, we discover the presence of God Isaiah 41:10, Don t worry because I am with you, says God. Don t be afraid, because I am your God. I will make you strong and I will help you. I will support you. Reflection

JULY IS MOVIN ON UP MONTH IN JOURNEY KIDZ LIVE! ZONE School is out and it's time to move on up! Our kids are so excited to be one grade older, and we are ready to match their excitement! This week is the last week that LIVE! Zone grades will be officially moving up. (Reminder: Tot Zone children move up based on age.) We know that change is fun, but it can also feel a little scary for some of our younger students, specifically our Kindergarteners. So, as parents, we invite you to help them transition by joining their class any Sunday of your choosing during the month of July. We really encourage you to take a Sunday in July to join with us, get to know their teachers, help them get settled in, and be a part of the fun that goes on downstairs! Looking forward to continuing to partner with your families! ~Pastor Michelle WOMEN OF FAITH - LAST WEEK TO PICK UP TICKETS Hey ladies, if you signed up to go to the Women of Faith event on August 1st & 2nd, please be sure to pick up your ticket this week! Opportunities to Serve JOURNEY MEALS TO GO Journey Meals To Go is an area of our church ministry that directly touches those in need. Currently, we provide meals to those that have had a new baby, had surgery or had any other circumstance arise that put them in need of meal support. The meals are coordinated through the Meal Train website, making it simple for the Journey Meals supporters and recipients to get all the important details. If you or someone you know within the church is in need of support, or if you would like to help provide meals, please contact Abby Bulliner at abulliner.fam@gmail.com or Lisa Steedsman - lsteedsman@gmail.com via email. WANTED: LEADERS! Summer has come, and with it, vacation time! And Journey Kidz has many places where we need help, especially for the summer months. This is a great time to plug in and see if this is an area where you would like to serve on a regular basis! Please look and see if you are able and willing to plug in.
