Focus on Missions MICHAEL & ROSALIND TRUSTY SOUTH PACIFIC CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP southpacificchurchplanting.com The Journey supports a number of domestic & international missionaries. One family we recently began supporting is Michael & Rosalind Trusty, who will be planting a church in New Zealand. For those of you who remember Michael speaking here at the Journey last fall, his family was in the process of raising support and transitioning to move to New Zealand to plant a church. They are partnering with one other family and working with South Pacific Christian Fellowship. They will be planning a church in Tauranga, New Zealand. Although it has been known as a retirement area, Tauranga is attracting young families who enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle. Strategically, Tauranga is a great place to plant a viable Christian Church. There are many lost people, there are resources available in the area and it is a good location for creating a network, linking the other two Christian church plants in the country. Rosalind and the kids left in February to find a house, enroll in school, and get settled in New Zealand. It was quite a feat finding housing since they targeted Tauranga because of the extreme growth, and because of the extreme growth they couldn t find housing. Once they got there and Rosalind, trusting in God s provision, went to a property agent office, she unbelievably got exactly what they needed, a home in the Papamoa School zone that allows dogs. She wrote in their email update, The agent actually looked at me suspiciously when she said, You are VERY lucky, this NEVER happens. What can I say? She doesn t know my God. And she ain t seen nothing yet! Michael joined the rest of the family in March and they are continuing to get settled while adjusting to many cultural differences. Please continue to pray for their adjustment to New Zealand, the planning of the church plant, and for their continued trust in God s provisions. We are excited to partner with them on this journey and will continue to update you on their progress. Thank you for your support to the Journey so we can continue to support missions like Michael & Rosalind Trusty. For more information on this great mission, see their website, www.trustysdownunder.org. For more information on the other missionaries we support, please check out our missionary map in the lobby, located near the stairs.
Sermon Outline Four Ways To Improve Your Prayer Life 1. Learn to pray Consistently 1 st of all because we only pray when we feel like it 2ndly because we don't think it makes a difference 3rdly because we reserve prayer for the big things the emergencies of life 4thly because we ve got messed up priorities 5thly because we hope in the wrong things Daniel 6:10 (NLT), "But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God." 2. Learn to pray Honestly Hebrews 4:13 (NCV), Nothing in all the world can be hidden from God. Everything is clear and lies open before him, and to him we must explain the way we have lived. Exodus 5:22-23 (NLT), Then Moses went back to the Lord and protested, Why have you brought all this trouble on your own people, Lord? Why did you send me? Ever since I came to Pharaoh as your spokesman, he has been even more brutal to your people. And you have done nothing to rescue them!
Sermon Outline Jeremiah 20:7 (CEV), You tricked me, Lord, and I was really fooled. You are stronger than I am, and you have defeated me. Jeremiah 29:12-13, Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 3. Learn to pray Fervently James 5:16 (NLT), "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." 4. Learn to pray Constantly 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT), "Never stop praying." First of all we discover the power of God Ephesians 1:18-20, I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms Secondly we discover the purpose of God Romans 8:28, We know that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Thirdly we discover the peace of God Philippians 4:6-7, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Lastly we discover the presence of God Isaiah 41:10, Don t worry because I am with you, says God. Don t be afraid, because I am your God. I will make you strong and I will help you. I will support you. Reflection
PRAYER TEAM AVAILABLE AFTER SERVICES If you would like to pray with someone today, or any Sunday after the service is over, please come to the front after the service ends to pray with one of our prayer team volunteers. They will be waiting in the front for anyone needing prayer. PRAYER MINISTRY AT THE JOURNEY AT 6:30 PM Come join us as we enjoy our God through prayer, Sunday evenings at 6:30pm in the church auditorium. We will have a time to praise our Lord through prayer, as well as pray for each other s needs and those of our church body. Also keep in mind, even the disciples had to ask how to pray. So if this is an area of your life you want to grow in, come join us as we disciple each other in prayer. Let s seek to live out Hebrews 10:19-23 together. If you have any questions about the prayer ministry, email Mike Ambroso at mambroso@gmail.com.
