May 7, 2014 As New Hope we are Disciples of Christ striving to bring Heaven to earth through nurturing, serving, and connecting! The Importance of Education in the Church This newsletter contains information about several opportunities for our children and youth to be formed in their faith. As adults, we should all keep in mind that the responsibility for passing along the stories and traditions of the faith belongs to us ALL of us! No matter our age or abilities, we can each play a role in nurturing our children and youth. As we look towards summer, a time when families have a little more flexibility with their schedules, could we each look for a way to build up the role of the church s life for our young people? Here are a few opportunities you could consider: --volunteering for one month (either June or July) to do a twenty-minute lesson with our elementary Sunday Schoolers curriculum is provided! Perhaps you would be willing to simply come in and tell a story about church when you were a kid. Talk with Sean or Amy if you are willing. --helping with Vacation Bible School We will be doing a joint VBS with Hillcrest Christian Church. They are doing most of the hard work of planning.we need to show our support by showing up to help. Please register your child AND/OR sign up to be a helper on the bulletin board outside the church office. See Anthony for more information. --supporting our newly formed Youth Co-op This group will rotate their meetings between churches: New Hope, Del-City, Hillcrest, and FCC Moore. The primary need for support is food: you can show your support by offering to bring a meal item for the weeks we serve. Please see Katy to express your interest in helping in this way. While we are all busy with other ministries and life itself, until a congregation makes the education of its children and youth a priority, our kids will miss out. Think of the people who have helped make faith real for you now it s our turn to serve! Growing in faith with you, Amy
