When we give to the poor, God indeed pours His love, His peace, His joy into our hearts and into our lives. These gifts never have to be returned, are unbreakable, and never become obsolete. Good Sunday, Good People! Dear Parish Family, Welcome to the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time. There s only one more weekend, before begin our 2019 Lenten Journey with Ash Wednesday, falling this year on March 6th. So, mark your calendars for all your Lenten devotions at our parish. Jesus teaches His disciples the Golden Rule in the passage we hear today, "Do unto others as you would have them do to you." And, He goes further, "love your enemies and do good to them...expecting nothing back." Today let us listen for what God is calling us to do for the people in our lives; both those who treat us kindly in return, and those who do not. THE WORD OF GOD In todays Gospel, Jesus instructs His disciples to love their enemies, to be merciful to them. Today's first reading dramatizes these lessons. Given the opportunity to kill Saul, David spares his life, even though Saul had tried to kill him when he had the chance. "The Lord is kind and merciful," we sing in the psalm. We are called to be merciful as well. Questions of The Week: In what ways am I showing my humanity and mercy to others? Am I witnessing to others the God-given spirit within me? Peace, and Blessings ~Fr. Tony, O.F.M. Pastor Bishop's Appeal Surpasses $1,900,000 The 2019 Bishop's Appeal has received 6,848 gifts and raised $1,928,500. This year's campaign is making good progress. This week in the Gospel of Luke, we hear why giving is so important. Think about the last time you gave a gift the warm, fuzzy feeling you had knowing you made someone s day. This is the same feeling God has for you! He gifted you with life and He loves you. God wants you, as a Missionary of Hope, to share your gifts and His love with others. When you give to the Bishop s Appeal, you support Catholic School and Faith Formation educators with training to help our children know and love Jesus. Visit the Bishop s Appeal website at www.catholicfoundationgb.org/give to make your gift today! Thank you for your support of the Bishop s Appeal!
