FROM THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION: Remember to check the lobby bulletin boards for more details. Following are some points of interest from the November Ministry Night & Congregational Business Meeting. Pastor Billy gave a report on David & Cecilia Molina, our global partners in Spain, who are suffering financially due to hard economic times. After some discussion, the congregation decided to send them $2,200 from the Tenderloin Dinner profits (the outreach portion). Also, starting this month (November 2014), we will change the focus of our 4th Sunday offering, which has been going towards our Future Facilities Fund, and instead send that money to the Molinas. We will do this through 2015. An Information Center was approved for $3,200. This portable station will mainly serve as a welcome center to guests, but will also be the area for signup sheets, literature, etc. The Pastoral Ministry proposed an open-ended contract for Pastor Billy. An annual evaluation would be done. The motion was approved by the congregation. The CE Ministry announced that Winter Lawson will need to cut back on her hours leading the Jr/Sr High youth groups. Lydia s Update Fall Getaway It s one of the best things we do in Cru. So much FUN! One of my favorite times of the year! Stirring, encouraging, community-building, life-changing. These are things that one will hear while talking about Fall Getaway. It s awesome... And God works through it significantly each year in the lives of students including this year! Some of the Greeks at Fall Getaway This was definitely true for Laura*. She became a Christian through the influence of Amelia, one of our Greek student leaders. Stepping into her first Fall Getaway experience, Laura* was ignorant to some sin in her life. Through the relationship seminar, conversations with new friends at Fall Getaway, and observing the other Christians around her, Laura* realized that she was in an unhealthy relationship with her boyfriend who was not a believer. She had been growing, learning more about Jesus and who she was in Him, but had been neglecting the fact that her boyfriend was not. Jotting down every scripture I (Lydia) mentioned, Laura* and I talked about living as though we were washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6:11). This awesome truth should push us to live that way in our relationships, too. Laura's eyes were opened to her sin, and she has begun the process of repenting of this sin in her relationship. Pray that God would give her discernment in how to either move forward or end her relationship. Pray for her boyfriend who has not yet moved from death to life by the saving grace of Jesus! *Name changed for privacy. Roger Hershey was our main speaker at Fall Getaway- He s so great!! Over the weekend, Roger shared about God s delight in His kids... what happens when his people yield their rights to the King and how we can be a part of spiritual multiplication, everywhere! Our Greek students were especially impacted by Roger being a former Greek in college himself. They are so excited to put into practice what they learned: casting the nets wide over every Greek house to share the gospel with all who will listen! "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" We joke, but Lydia and I got to talk about dating during a seminar at Fall Getaway! It was so fun. The students let us know that it helped give principles for singleness now so that they will be more equipped to date that certain Christian girl or guy in the future! We discussed that the Bible says nothing about dating specifically, but it tells us EVERYTHING about the principles we can apply to our dating relationships. It was really fun and God moved! Pray with us! ~Pray that God would use the momentum gained from Fall Getaway to motivate students to reach their friends and classmates at the U of I with the Gospel! ~Pray that we would be able to reach EVERY Greek house at the U of I with the Good News of Jesus Christ! ~Pray for Laura and her boyfriend -- that she'd continue to move toward holiness and that He would come to know Jesus as his Great Savior! ~Pray for Evan and I as we embark on lot of travels during Thanksgiving -- we'll be all over Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana! ~Pray for our Staff Conference - every November Cru hosts a staff conference for our region. Pray we'd gain rest and vision that will give us energy to go hard at ministry the rest of the semester! Let us know how we might be praying for YOU!
