It amazes me all that God and God's people have done in one short year. I am NOT claiming credit for these things, only the joy of seeing them happen firsthand. ~ the annex roof replaced with new guttering and drainage ~ the flat roof over the upper level rooms rebuilt slanted to allow drainage ~ the sanctuary roof replaced ~ dance classes for older and younger kids ~ fellowship hall water-sealed and runoff redirected and hall painted ~ solid rails from the sanctuary floor to the platform designed to look as If they fit in with the original woodwork ~ food pantry moved to a larger, better, nicer location on the lower level ~ new members...17 last October ~ old overgrown bushes and landscaping ripped out and new clean fresh right-sized in place ~ upstairs classroom plastering repaired and classroom repainted and one new Sunday school class meeting in it ~ new wooden steps outside from the patio level to field level ~ princess tea for girls ~ a VBS with soccer clinic and feeding kids, up to 89 kids a day in VBS with festivities and closing Sunday service of 170 ~ two groups of new members this spring... ~ Wednesday daytime and Thursday evening Bible studies ~ providing chapels and giving tree and scholarships for child care and a short term meeting location during flooding ~ raising $31,500 of $35,500 elevator/lift costs...elevator work begins August 1st ~ plaster work continues in the sanctuary and upper classroom areas ~ solid Children's church program under Mark Whitman ~ giving increased allowing church to have its own pastor instead of shared ~ mission giving increases for ministries like Heifer Project, Feeding African Pastors, Special Olympics, increased Euwell Wilson Center giving and more ~ parsonage garage repaired and repainted ~ Mission famine so youth got a touch of hunger and the struggles of the world ~ working with Place of Grace to provide needs by UMW and Bible study by the pastor All the above is on top of the churches existing ministries of worship, adult Sunday school, our UMW, Crafty Corner, Weight Watchers, Fall Festival Float, Kids Club and a steady stream of activities and acts of worship (Cont.)

2 More new ministry we are looking forward to prayerfully with anticipation includes... ~ Jon & Sara Perkins will be organizing and leading youth group this fall ~ beginning September 16th, we plan to have Sunday school for each age group pre-school, elementary, youth and adults ~ more and varied special music and those providing it, an occasional choir and other ways of worshipping ~ preparing to celebrate Seminary's 175th year as a congregation in 2019 ~ working to include the kids and families we reach through kids club and VBS into the congregation beyond those areas ~ transforming additional space from storage to children and youth spaces ~ seeing Men & Women, Boys & Girls encounter Jesus as Savior and Lord and be disciples as His followers ~Pastor Josh Vision Committee A new vision committee has been created with the purpose of planning for our church future. Committee members include Tom Gross Chairperson, Carol Johnson, Sara Perkins, Lynn and Pat Swaidner, Pastor Josh, Ann McPherren and Vicky Eisenhut. The first meeting was held on July 15 and the group discussions included identifying opportunities for spiritual growth, educational programming for all age levels, multi-level Sunday School, and coordination of programming for children. Areas of improvement included daily clerical support for Josh, youth group, a person dedicated to children s programming, all modes of communication, a congregant survey, and fund raising ideas. The committee recognized the financial need to support some plans and has identified resources for initial funding. Specific proposals will be brought to the Administrative Board to address. A second meeting was scheduled for July 18. Receipts From Kroger Community Reward If the bottom of your Kroger or Owen's receipt doesn't look like this, then you need to enroll or reenroll in the Kroger Community Rewards Program! SUMC receives a check quarterly from this program and we use these funds to help support VBS and Kids Club! Seminary United Methodist Church has been participating with this program since mid-2015. To date we have received $1,831.31!!!!!! This program costs you nothing!!! You can enroll or re-enroll at kroger.com or by calling 1-800- KROGERS (1-800-576-4377). Our organization number is 77391. Thank you for your support!!!! August Memory Verse Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

3 Vacation Bible School - A Huge Success WOW!! What a week! We had around 150 people join us on Sunday for the Tailgate Party on June 17. Lots of fun was had by all! The music was provided by Warren United Methodist praise band. VBS provided great food, yummy cotton candy, Father's Day crafts, and delicious popcorn! Even though it was hot, our evening was filled with wonderful fellowship. Between the soccer clinic, free lunch, and VBS, 102 children registered for one or more of the opportunities provided. Throughout the week we had an average of 86 kids each day with a high of 89 on Thursday afternoon. Lots of energy and excitement added in with four days of crafts, music, Bible study, games, snacks, and missions filled our afternoons. The kids were very thankful for the t-shirts, the delicious lunch, and all the wonderful adults that volunteered their time to make the week a success! Thank you to everyone who helped. Landscaping, cooking, running technology, building stairs, serving lunch, leading a group, leading a rotation, decorating, etc. are all appreciated! This was a success because of all the volunteers. This was a great partnership with the Roanoke Lions Club. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your help! ~Jenny Gross, VBS Chairperson Muriel Mosher 7833 W Jefferson Blvd, Room 223 Fort Wayne, IN 46804 Dick Van Alstine 127 N Pine St Janesville, WI 53548 dickncarol4u@yahoo.com Brooke Branyon 446 Gene Dr Roanoke, IN 46783

6 A Mission Trip Opportunity In the summer of 2019 we are looking to take a team to the Dominican Republic. This will be a great chance to many to experience life in another culture and help us share Christ s love. This will be a trip focused on outreach ministries and we would love for you to join us. More details are to come at a later time, but if you are interested please let Kirsta Hiner or Pastor Josh know. Administrative Board Update The Ad board met on July 9th.
