Over the years, as I was searching the internet for information on her, I discovered there is also a Lilith the Black Moon which is a different planet with different effects. I discovered that some bloggers confused the two Liliths so I felt unable to really study her effects on the birth chart. By Joseph Barclay Ross A brief but pointed introduction to Lilith, which I am glad to have on my book-shelf and from which I have learned a number of distinctive things about this great and misunderstood double-edged astrological symbol and tool. But if you wish to read the authoritative classic in the field, which presents Lilith much more positively and usefully, then please check out INTERPRETING LILITH by Delphine Jay: a masterpiece of astrology, and one of the most powerful and enlightening books I have ever read. It is indeed the only book out there that truly presents Lilith in an in-depth and potentially positive three-dimensional manner. It will teach you for example that Lilith, by house and sign, must be used or employed in a creative, objective, and universally beneficial manner, rather than a selfish, obsessive or addicted, and uncreative manner -- thus Lilith is not a fatalistic demoness as much as a willful genie, one who must be befriended and utilized, as an ally, with finesse. Indeed, with this wisdom, INTERPRETING LILITH is a book that has revolutionized my full-time astrology practice of 41 years and over fifty thousand readings, greatly enriching my life in the process. But "Lilith Insight" is certainly also worth having and studying for the serious professional; and Ivy Jacobson's book THE DARK MOON LILITH IN ASTROLOGY is also okay, albeit also very brief and even more negative in her treatment of Lilith than Wilson's; and M. LILITH provides valuable symblic legendary background (which unfortunately seems to be more in support of a feminist agenda than about Lilith's astrological usefulness -- which seems to represent an unfortunate tendency in astrology nowadays, to equate feminism with the asteroids and, well, just about everything; while pertinent, men have asteroids too!). Frankly, no other book is as enlightening, or even less misleading, in their focus on the scary or negative or sexual political aspects of Lilith (and, believe me, Lilith is way beyond mere sexual politics, dealing with the most universal aspects of life and death and pain and joy and alienation and fruition applicable to all sexes equally), compared to INTERPRETING LILITH; which is like comparing the rather hidebound Victorian negativity of Freud focusing merely on the human sexual imperative (and its being met or not), rather than the soaring metaphysical and socio-spiritual wisdom of Jung postulating the collective subconscious of humanity (in which spiritual unfoldment is the goal, not mere propagation or domination). Lilith by her very nature is far beyond all our primitive desires; our yearnings for judgment or complacency; comfort or shame; truth, meaning, control, parity or our easy social facsimiles thereof. Whatever our surface desires, she forces us to grow far greater in our wisdom, our deeper insight and compassion -- if not, she kills us (at least that's one way to put it, like the sphynx over her riddle). Very few understand her entirely or are even likely to in one incarnation. But that is just how revolutionary and frontier Lilith really is -- like the Medusa shield of Perseus mirroring our very soul -- with a capacity to illumine the human condition far greater than almost any other symbol one can imagine. If I seem passionate about Lilith, this is why -- I think no one understands life without understanding the true paradoxicality of what she represents. Excellent insight for astrological data and the Black Moon By d m hawkins We as astrologers cannot find too much written on the Black Moon Lilith, other then the lore of Lilith which is plentiful both in Hebrew Qaballah and elsewhere. For an astrological detailed description of all the tropical signs the Black Moon Lilith may fall into in our studies, this is the book for you, as it does this and so much more,such as detailing the aspects and gives both the positive and the negatives for the natal chart. She does have a decidedly interesting take on BML in Gemini however, as she says it is exalted in this position, and does rather well in this sign, which I am still not too clear on, but when I investigated further into Vedic Astrology, we can see the Moon's positions in the signs 23 degrees behind the tropical which are considered to be optimal in Vedic would be Scorpio and Taurus (exalted for the Moon) so the Sidereal positions would be the same for the adjusted Gemini NN and Sagittarius SN, making then a bit of sense to me to assigning an exaltation of sorts if indeed she is pushing the term a bit into the unknown rather then the traditional sense of the term. And so other then this detail I think it's still very worthwhile to chew upon the information the book contains. Anyway, Mae Wilson-Ludlam gives to us a detailed Ephemeris for Lilith courtesy she says of the ground breaking work of Ivy M.G.Jacobson of Horary fame in her Dedications, for which she says did the Ephemeris for Lilith. The Ephemeris goes up to 2016 starting from 1977 with tips on how Lilith is tracked. I'd recommend this book as a keeper for the serious Astrologer who is convinced that the Moon's shadow, the Black Moon Lilith plays a vital role in our lives. See all 4 customer reviews...
