We pray that you will be blessed and renewed by our worship experience today. HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated today. All are welcome at the Lord s Table. For those who prefer to receive grape juice or gluten free wafers, simply indicate that to the server. We would like everyone to register their communion participation on the Welcome cards in the pew. BRIEF ORDER FOR CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS P In the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen P God of all mercy and consolation, come to the aid of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that, attentive to your Word, we may confess our sins, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. C Amen P Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. P Most merciful God, C we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen P God, who is rich in mercy, loved us even when we were dead in sin, and made us alive together with Christ. By grace you have been saved. In the name of Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven. Almighty God strengthen you with power through the Holy Spirit, that Christ may live in your hearts through faith. C Amen

Kyrie eleison, on our world and on our way. Kyrie eleison, ev ry day. PRAYER OF THE DAY P Let us pray. C Holy Lord, your followers gave to your children something more powerful and more valuable than riches. They gave healing and hope. Bring healing and hope into our world and show us evidence of your presence in our lives. Amen. CHILDREN S SERMON GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Blessed Assurance ELW 638 V. 1 Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of his Spirit, washed in his blood. This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long: this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long. GOSPEL: Acts 3:1-10 1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, at three o'clock in the afternoon. 2 And a man lame from birth was being carried in. People would lay him daily at the gate of the temple called the Beautiful Gate so that he could ask for

alms from those entering the temple. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms. 4 Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us." 5 And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, "I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk." 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. 8 Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9 All the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and they recognized him as the one who used to sit and ask for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. P C The gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ. SERMON HYMN OF THE DAY Precious Lord, Take My Hand ELW 773 PRAYER SONG Hear Our Prayer ELW 178 Hear our prayer, hear our prayer, Lord, make us whole; peace to all people, hope for each soul. God of grace, in this place, hear now our prayer. PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION P Hear us, O God. C Your mercy is great. PASSING OF THE PEACE OFFERING / OFFERTORY ELW 182 Let the vineyards be fruitful, Lord, and fill to the brim our cup of blessing. Gather a harvest from the seeds that were sown, that we may be fed with the bread of life. Gather the hopes and the dreams of all; unite them with the prayers we offer now. Grace our table with your presence, and give us a foretaste of the feast to come. WORDS OF INSTITUTION

THE LORD'S PRAYER ELW p. 191 Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. HOLY COMMUNION COMMUNION SONG ELW p. 191 Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. Questions from our Confirmation Students Who wrote the Bible and how did they know what to write? How did God know everything about the Bible? Who did Jesus go to when he needed someone? Why is the SHEEP God s sacred animal? What must we do to get to heaven? (I have heard many different answers) Can God stop terrorism? Why do so many bad things happen? Is God punishing us? Sometimes it seems God sends people who are inspirational, then they leave. Why does God do this? Why do we pray? When it seems like something bad is going to happen and it doesn t, does that mean that God helped you out? Why are there so many religions to worship the same God? Did Jesus WANT to die on the cross? Why do people judge others? Why does God still love us? If things happen for a reason, why do people die (in terrorist attacks?) Is there a proper way to dispose of a Bible? Where did the names & chapters of the Bible come from? Why do certain religions do bad things? Is your faith ever complete? How many people have read the entire Bible? How do you get from HELL back into HEAVEN? What does Jesus look like? If God forgives everyone, why is there a need for hell? What does God want to say to us? Why do we call God Elijah? Why was the Bible made? Does God reward us if we do something good? Why does God make people the way they are? Why are there two creation stories? Does God love people who don t love him? How do I know if God is talking to me? Is it ok for someone who doesn t believe in God to celebrate Christmas? Is it ok for someone who doesn t believe in God to come to church/youth group? How do I know where I fit in the Bible? How do we know when God is at work? Do you go to heaven right away after you die? When will God call upon me? When will God call me home?

An offering will be received to support the Bible placement ministry. 100% of the funds are used for Scripture. SOAP! No one likes to be dirty. Soap keeps hands clean, germs at bay and helps people present themselves with dignity. Those simple things are some of the very building blocks to success. LWR (Lutheran World Relief) accepts new bars of any brand soap in their original wrapping. All bar sizes are accepted; however, bath-size bars (4-5 oz.) are highly preferred. There is a need for bars of soap for LWR. WELCA attendees donate bars of soap throughout the year. They are asking for the rest of the congregation to participate by donating bars of soap. A basket is in the narthex (area at the top of the stairs entering the church sanctuary) to receive your donations. Soap donations need to be here by May 1 st. WELCA members are currently purchasing items for various kits for LWR. This is funded by donations made by the women of our church. THANK YOU to those who participated!
