Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. Ephesians 6:10-18

There are some really tremendous promises that are put forth in this passage of scripture. We are told that if we will put on the whole armor of God that we will be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might and that we will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. In addition to these incredible promises, what is also evident from this text is that taking up the whole armor of God is absolutely essential, considering the host of wickedness that is arrayed against us! There are all manner of unseen forces that are constantly seeking to exert their evil influence over us in an effort to persuade us to do their will instead of the will of God. There are some really tremendous promises that are put forth in this passage of scripture. There are all manner of unseen forces that are constantly seeking to exert their evil influence over us in an effort to persuade us to do their will instead of the will of God. I want to share with you a revelation that has made putting on the Full Armor of God a very meaningful and practical experience for me. Each piece of the armor is representative of a truth that we must walk in to be overcoming Christians. Each of these truths is found in many verses throughout the Bible. I simply take my favorite scriptures which affirm the truth that each part of the armor of God represents, personalize them, and pray them. Following are a list of scriptures that I use to pray, followed by a sample prayer. The scriptures that I have listed are only a few of many that you can find in your own Bible and use yourself. This is simply a template for you to use. Fill in this guide with any scripture that best affirms these realities to you, and pray the way that is most natural to you. The Belt of Truth Ephesians 6:10-14a

Then Pilate said to him, So you are a king? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice (John 18:37). Jesus said that his purpose for being in the world is to bear witness to the truth. Did you know that this is your reason for being left in the world once you are saved? God is Truth, and His kingdom is a kingdom of Truth, as opposed to the devil, whose kingdom is a kingdom of lies. The belt of truth identifies which kingdom you belong to. To put this belt on in the morning is to remind yourself, Yes, I am of the truth. John 1:14 John 8:32 John 8:40 John 14:6 John 14:17 John 17:17 John 18:36-38 Revelation 19:11 Help me, Father, to know the truth, believe the truth, walk in the truth and bear witness to the truth against the lies of the devil in a perverse and wicked world. I m filled with the Holy Spirit of truth, and I accept today my ministry to be a son of truth in the kingdom of truth. The Breastplate of Righteousness Ephesians 6:14b Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). What this means for you is that you are safe, you have the righteousness of God imputed to you. The breastplate protects the warrior s vital organs, the more soft, vulnerable parts of the body. You are protected by the knowledge that God has declared you not guilty. Romans 8:1, 31b, 33-35a Romans 3:23-25a Romans5:1

I thank you, Father, that you are for me, that you justify me, and that I cannot be separated by anyone, by any means, under any circumstances, from your great love for me in Christ. I thank you that no charge can be legitimately brought against me, since you have chosen to bring no charge against me. By means of Christ s blood, I am justified, uncondemned, not guilty, and at peace with You as a free gift from You to be received by simple faith. Since I have already accepted and received this gift, I assume my position today as the righteousness of God in the earth. The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace Ephesians 6:15 Jesus said, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord s favor. You have been anointed to do the same things. Putting on the shoes of the Gospel of peace is a reminder of that. 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 Isaiah 52:7 Luke 2:10, 13-14 Luke 4:18-19 Isaiah 61:1-2a James 2:12 I thank you, Father, for sending a messenger to bring ME the Good News of God s love so that I could become your child. I step forth into the world today as an ambassador for Christ, a messenger bearing glad tidings of the Kingdom that Satan, death, and Hell are defeated; that sin is forgiven; that the power of sickness and disease is broken; and that God s heart is for peace and reconciliation. The Shield of Faith Ephesians 6:16

Romans 8:37 tells us, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Taking up the shield of faith means reminding ourselves of these promises that strengthen us in our faith. Philippians 2:13 Philippians 4:13 Psalms 18:29 Zechariah 4:7 Romans 8:37 2 Corinthians 2:14a I thank you, Father, that it is You who are working through me, that I need fear nothing, and that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. By You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. In all things I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. Thanks be to God, who always causes me to triumph in Christ and leads me in triumphal procession. The Helmet of Salvation Ephesians 6:17a This protects your mind from the accusing voice of the devil telling you how bad you are. Yes, you have had bad thoughts and made bad choices, but what does scripture say Christ has done for you? He has shed his blood, and that is enough. Romans 8:37-38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Hebrews 10:12, 14, 17-18, 19, 22-23 Hebrews 6:17-19 1 Thessalonians 1:10 Romans 8:38-39 Hebrews 13:5a-6

I thank you, Father, that you have already paid for my sins through Christ, and that I need never pay anything ever again. I thank you that my sins are not only forgiven, but forgotten, and that I can have confidence in your presence because of the blood of Jesus, because you have promised you will never leave me nor forsake me, that you will bless me, that you will do me good, and that you will help me. Your name is Faithful, and I believe in your faithfulness. I am delivered from God s wrath, and nothing can separate me from God s love. The Sword of the Spirit Ephesians 6:17b This is the first offensive part of the armor that is mentioned. Jesus said, If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:31-32) It is very hard to know the truth without knowing the word, and if you don t know the truth you will remain unfree, and it will be very hard for you to fulfill God s will for your life to be free and to minister freedom to others. You must read your Bible! Psalms 119:105 Psalms 119:9 John 8:31-32 Job 23:12 Be the kind of disciple that says, No Bible, no breakfast. Consider taking notes during your Pastor s sermons, then reviewing the notes that week, looking up each scripture. Or, read the One Year Bible, or just start at the beginning of the Bible and read 3 chapters a day (which will take you through the whole Bible in about a year), or 5 Psalms a day (which will take you through the Psalms once each month), or a chapter from Proverbs each day. These are just a few examples of Bible reading plans to help get you started. Read your Bible! Something anything at least a Psalm a day. It is so important to your spiritual growth and maturity.

Prayer Ephesians 6:18 This is an often neglected part of the armor of God. Prayer is another offensive weapon that we have against the wiles of the enemy. It is the balance to the Word. If you are all word and no prayer, or vice versa, you will be out of balance. Jude 20-21 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Philippians 4:6-7 The Bible tells us to pray at ALL times, which includes: - A Quiet Time (Daily Disciplined Devotion - DDD). Lock this in as a daily habit, like bathing or brushing your teeth. - Praying in the Spirit /Tongues. - Corporate prayer during church services or prayer meetings. - In the car. - In the shower. - Anytime you think of it. - With one another. God bless you, fellow soldier, as you walk with Him. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life, and the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
