5:00 p.m. and 9:15 a.m. Kindergarten ~HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS~ Angels Visited Joseph and Mary December 13 th & 14 th, 2014 Unit 1, Session 1 Bible Story: Angels visited Mary and Joseph Bible Story Passage: Luke 1:26-38; Matthew 1:18-24 Life Verse: The Savior has been born today in Bethlehem. -Luke 2:11 Life Point: Angels told Mary and Joseph that Jesus would be born Item 2 & 3: Teaching Pictures Life Verse bookmark Say the Life Verse Open to Luke 2:11. Point to the verse and say it to the children. Have the kids whisper the verse after you and then have them stand up. Ask them to look surprised and have them say the verse. Have them pretend to be asleep and then say the verse. For the last time have them Stretch and say the verse. Talk about the Bible story- pg. 53 Open your Bible to Luke 1:26 and Matthew 1:18. Tell the kids the Bible story in your own words. Make eye contact and engage the kids. Ask for volunteers to pray thanking God for sending us His Son Jesus. Art Center: Door hangers Supplies provided: Jesus door hanger kits Hand each kid a Jesus door hanger kit. Give them time to decorate it and color if they would like. Put the string on the back so it is able to hang. Explain that Christmas is Jesus birthday. Play a movement game Supplies Provided: Paper Cards, Use the paper cards with the words: Mary Joseph and Angel printed out on them Put all the chairs in a circle. Make sure that the kids know what their paper card is when you hand one out to each child. Call out Mary, Joseph or Angel and the kids with that card must stand up and switch seats. Continue calling them out and every once in a while call out Everyone switch. Encourage each child to help with the cleanup. Thank them for working hard to get the room in order. Play music as they clean. Thank the children for their help and be warmly greet each parent as they come to the door to drop off and to pick up.

Continue by naming different colors that the children are wearing until every child is over at group time. Tell the Bible Story- BTH 5 Open your Bible to Luke 1:26-38. While showing the teaching picture tell the story of the angels visiting Mary and Joseph in your own words. Ask one of the children to pray thanking God for the angels messages to Mary and Joseph about sending Jesus. Art Center: Christmas Craft Supplies provided: Christmas craft kits Each child will receive a little craft kit and will assemble it. There are instructions for the crafts inside the bags. Each craft is easy and contains stickers going onto it. Sing a Song Since this Sunday is Happy Birthday Jesus have the kids sing happy birthday to Jesus. Let the kids sing it in different styles (silly, quiet, etc). Encourage each child to help with the cleanup. Thank them for working hard to get the room in order. Play music as they clean. Thank the children for their help.

5 p.m. and 9:15 a.m. Kindergarten Jesus was born December 20 th & 21 st, 2014 Unit 1, Session 2 Bible Story: Jesus was born Bible Story Passage: Luke 2:1-20 Life Verse: The Savior has been born today in Bethlehem. -Luke 2:11 Life Point: Jesus was sent to Earth by God Item 4: Teaching Picture Pack Item 1: Life verse Luke 2:11 Say the Life Verse While showing the Life Verse picture read Luke 2:11 and have the kids repeat it. Cover up one of the words and have everyone say it together. Continue to say it and keep covering up words until they are saying it with everything covered up. Talk About the Bible Story Page 31 Show the Moses poster and ask what the kids remember about Moses. Explain that today s story happened before Moses and the people who left Egypt. Show them the Teaching Picture and open the Bible to Exodus 3 and tell the story in your own words. Art Center: Hay on the Manger. Supplies provided: Jesus is Born coloring page, Legend of the candy cane bookmark, yellow construction paper, glue and markers. Hand each kid a coloring page and have them color the picture of baby Jesus as he is laying in the manger. Cut strips of yellow construction paper up to have the kids glue onto the coloring page to look like hay. Discuss with the kids why this is such an important event. Give each child a Legend of the candy cane bookmark to color and take home with them. Play Say and Copy Instruct the kids to sit in a circle and choose one child to start with the bean bag. Say: God loved us and gave us Jesus. The child with the bean bag repeats the phrase and substitutes another word for trees. Continue around the circle until every child has had a turn. Have the children help to clean up the room. Make sure the kids have gathered all of their personal belongings and greet each parent. Distribute out the Kids activity pages and have the kids tell their parents the Life Point. Encourage the kids to thank God for sending Jesus and to have them take turns thanking God.

6:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Kindergarten Jesus was born December 20 th & 21 st, 2014 Unit 1, Session 2 Bible Story: Jesus was born Bible Story Passage: Luke 2:1-20 Life Verse: The Savior has been born today in Bethlehem. -Luke 2:11 Life Point: Jesus was sent to Earth by God Item 4: Teaching Picture Say the Life Verse Open your Bible and read the Life Verse Luke 2:11. Say the first word and direct the kids to echo that word. Continue to add a new word with them echoing you. Start with The with the kids echoing and then say The Savior with the kids echoing you. Continue until you are saying the entire Life Verse. Talk About the Bible Story Pg. 19 Turn your Bible to Luke 2:1-20 and tell the story in your own words while engaging the kids. Make sure to look them in the eyes and not be reading the story. Ask for volunteers to pray while taking prayer requests. thanking God for sending us Jesus to be our Savior and for the prayer requests that the children brought up. Art Center: Make a Letter Supplies provided: Manger scene letter coloring page and markers. Give each child a coloring page. Let them color the front and the back and when they are done cut out the letter. Talk about how it is good to share with others how Jesus was born to be our Savior. Make some noise Supplies Provided: Musical instruments Have the kids grab a little musical instrument and play one of the songs on the Kindergarten CD. Have the children dance and play their instruments to the music. They may need to take turns playing the instruments. Signal time for cleanup and encourage the kids to put all materials away. As needed, walk around the room and assign a cleanup task to each child. Play some music as the children are cleaning up and getting ready to go home.

All hours Kindergarten Simeon and Anna December 27 th & 28 th, 2014 Unit 1, Session 3 Bible Story: Simeon and Anna Bible Story Passage: Luke 2:21-40 Life Verse: The Savior has been born today in Bethlehem. Luke 2:11 Life Point: Jesus is the son of God Item 5: Teaching Picture Pack Item 5: Life Verse page Kindergarten Activity Page Move to group time Have each kid follow behind you while you are going to group time. Walk around the room tip-toeing the whole time until they get to their group time spot. Tell the Bible Story- Pg. 23 Open up your Bible to Luke 2 and tell the story of Simeon and Anna seeing Jesus in your own words. Tell them that they saw Jesus about a week after he was born. Ask for volunteers to pray and to thank God for Jesus. Don t force any of the kids to pray. Art Center: Watercolor Simeon and Anna Supplies provided: Simeon and Anna coloring page, and watercolors. Hand out a coloring page of Simeon and Anna to each child and let them get creative while painting the page. Discus with the kids why it was a special thing that Simeon and Anna got to see Jesus and knew who he was. Play a game Looking and Seeing Let the kids know that they need to follow your directions. Stand; squint your eyes and feel around in front of you; pretend to look through binoculars; wave and act excited as if you just saw a friend; shade your eyes and look around; shrug your shoulders; sit down. Tell the kids that all the action had something to do with looking or seeing. Remind them that Simeon and Anna both saw Jesus. Encourage the kids to think about Jesus this week, knowing that God sent him to be their Savior. Make sure the kids have all of their belongings. Greet each parent and distribute the Kids Activity Page as the kids are leaving.

5:00 p.m. and 9:15 a.m. Kindergarten Wise Men Visited Jesus January 3 rd & 4 th, 2014 Unit 1, Session 4 Bible Story: Wise men visited Jesus Bible Story Passage: Matthew 2:1-12 Life Verse: Let us worship God. Psalm 95:6 Life Point: Worship Jesus. Item 6: Teaching Picture Pack Item 5: Jesus was a baby poster Sing Together Play track 4 on the Kindergarten CD Let Us Adore Him and sing along. Show the Poster of Jesus as a Baby and have the kids tell you what they have learned about Jesus the last two stories they heard the past two weeks in Bible Fellowship class. Remind them how God sent us His only Son, Jesus. Talk About the Bible Story Pg. 27 Open your Bible to Matthew 2 and recall the Bible story in your own words without reading it from your Bible. Invite the children to follow you back to their chairs just like the wise men followed the star. Ask for volunteers to pray that people today can be happy that Jesus was born just like the wise men were when they saw Jesus. Art Center: Make a Shooting Star Supplies provided: White copy paper with shooting star, gold glitter, yellow tissue paper, glue and crayons. Have each kid use crayons to color the star coloring page. Have them color the page but let them add yellow tissue paper onto the star to make it a yellow star. They may add glitter as well if desired. Play a game Have the children sit down and hand a bean bag to one kid to start with. Have the kid with the beanbag say If I had been with the wise men, I would have given Jesus Go until every child has had a turn and encourage every answer even if it has already been said. While receiving new kids and having parents pick up some of the kids as well make sure that you are greeting them at the door. Make sure that the kids are leaving with all of their belongings and activity pages.

6:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Kindergarten January 3 rd & 4 th, 2014 Unit 1, Session 4 Bible Story: Wise men visited Jesus Bible Story Passage: Matthew 2:1-12 Life Verse: Let us worship God. Psalm 95:6 Life Point: Worship Jesus. Item 6: Teaching Picture Wise Men Visited Jesus Art Center: Watercolor Wise Men Supplies provided: 3 wise men color page, yellow die-cut star and glue Give each child a 3 wise men coloring page and one yellow star. Let them color both with crayons or markers. Have them draw in little stars in the sky as well When they are done glue the star onto the coloring page, so the wise men are following the star. Discuss with the kids how the wise men came over a year after Jesus was born. Move to Group Time You will have a yellow star in your bucket. Have the children line up behind you and follow you around the room as if they were the wise men following the star that led them to Jesus. Walk them around and then into their spots for the Bible story. Talk About the Bible Story BTH 11 Open your Bible to Matthew 2 and tell the story of the wise men traveling to visit Jesus in your own words. Have one kid who has been listening well hold the teaching picture and another one hold the star. Ask for volunteers to pray, but do not force any of the kids to pray., thanking God for Jesus and to help the kids to worship Him. Play I Spy Have all the kids gather around on the floor and give them clues about an item that is visible in the room. Give clues about the chosen item. Make sure the same child is not getting chosen all the time or for every round played. Whoever guesses correctly can have a chance to pick something in the room to have the kids guess. Clean-up & Dismiss Have the kids race to see how fast they can clean the room up while also making it look nice and not thrown about. As parents are picking up the kids make sure that you are greeting them at the door. Check to see that the kids are leaving with all of their belongings and activity pages.

5:00 p.m. and 9:15 a.m. Kindergarten Jesus Told A Story January 10 th & 11 th, 2014 Unit 1, Session 5 Bible Story: Jesus told a story Bible Story Passage: Luke 15:11-24 Life Verse: Let us worship God. -Psalm 95:6 Life Point: Jesus forgives Item 7: Teaching Picture Pack Item 2: Life Verse Psalm 95:6 Move to Group Time Have the kids get to group time, by following your instructions. Have the children who like to worship God by singing and hopping to their spot, the children who like to worship God by reading baby step to their spot for the Bible story, etc. Talk about the Bible story- Pg. 31 Open up to Luke 15 telling the Bible story in your own words. Explain to the kids that Jesus often told stories in order to teach people. Ask for volunteers to pray thanking God for all the stories that we are able to read, so that we can learn from them as well. Art Center: Prodigal Son Book Supplies provided: The prodigal son coloring page, colored paper, book inserts, glue & markers. Give each kid one coloring page. Help the kids to cut apart the coloring page. Fold the sheet of color paper into a book and cut the top to make extra pages. Glue the pictures into the book in order of events. Glue the story and title into the book as well. Discuss further with the kids about how God welcomes everyone no matter what happens. He loves us all. Color the Jesus Told a Story Page Hand each kid a Jesus Told a Story coloring page and let them color the page. Go over with the kids what is going on in the picture and revisit what the story means. Encourage each child to help with the cleanup and be sure to thank them for working hard to get the room in order for the next hour. Play the Kindergarten CD as they clean and tidy up the room for the next group. Be sure to greet the parents warmly and to make sure the kids are leaving with all of their papers.

6:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Kindergarten Jesus Told A Story January 10 th & 11 th, 2014 Unit 1, Session 5 Bible Story: Jesus told a story Bible Story Passage: Luke 15:11-24 Life Verse: Let us worship God. -Psalm 95:6 Life Point: Jesus forgives Item 7: Teaching Picture Pack Item 2: Life Verse Psalm 95:6 Say the Life Verse Open your Bible to Psalm 95:6 and read Let us worship God. Have the children say it with you multiple times and then ask them to tell you ways that you are able to worship God. Tell the Bible Story- BTH 13 Open up to Luke 15 telling the Bible story in your own words. Explain to the kids that Jesus was teaching people about God s love and that this is one of the many stories that Jesus had told people. Ask one of the children to pray for all of them to learn from Jesus stories that he told and thanking God for those stories that we have from Jesus. Art Center: Connect the dot picture frame Supplies provided: Die-cut picture frame #236, Connect the Dots coloring page, glue, Life Verse, yarn, and markers. Hand one picture frame, string of yarn, life verse and coloring page. Give the kids time to connect the dots and to color the picture. Glue the picture frame onto the coloring picture and hole punch in two spots to string the yarn through so it can hang up. Glue the life verse onto the frame. Talk with the kids about what they learned from this story while they are working on the craft. Play a Guessing Game Have all of the kids sit down on the floor and begin the game by describing one of the kids clothing, hair color, eye color, etc. and have the kids guess who you are describing. Whoever guesses right will have a chance to describe someone in the room as well. Encourage each child to help with the cleanup and be sure to thank them for working hard to get the room in order for the next hour. Play the Kindergarten CD as they clean and tidy up the room for the next group. Be sure to greet the parents warmly and to make sure the kids are leaving with all of their papers.

5 p.m. and 9:15 a.m. Kindergarten Jesus Told Three Parables January 17 th & 18 th, 2014 Unit 1, Session 6 Bible Story: Jesus told three parables Bible Story Passage: Luke 15 Life Verse: Let us worship God. - Psalm 95:6 Life Point: The Bible helps me to know what to do. Item 8: Teaching Picture Move to Group Time Have the kids get to group time, by following your instructions. Say take (1,2,3 or whatever number you choose) hops, baby steps, big steps etc. Keep changing up what they do until they make it to their spots for the Bible story. Talk About the Bible Story Page 35 Open your Bible up to Luke 15. While showing the teaching picture of the three parables tell the story in your own words. Ask for volunteers to pray for any prayer requests that the kids have and to thank God for the things we are able to learn from the parables that Jesus told. Art Center: The Lost Coin Supplies provided: The Lost Coin coloring page, stickers and markers. Give each child the Lost Coin coloring page and give them time to color it. When they are done have them put stickers on it where the coins are on the picture. Talk to the children about how people used to wear their coins on their head like this lady and how precious they were to her. We are even more precious to God. Play Hot Potato Instruct the kids to sit in a circle and choose one child to start with the bean bag. Play some music while they gently pass the bean bag across or around the circle like it is a hot potato. When the music stops have the child with the beanbag stand up and do a silly dance pretending their feet were really hot. Once the music starts again our hot potato sits back down and passes the beanbag to the next person. Encourage each child to help with the cleanup while playing the CD and be sure to thank them for working hard to get the room in order for the next hour. Be sure to greet the parents warmly and to make sure the kids are leaving with all of their papers. Item 8: Teaching Picture Pack Item 15: Gold and Silver Coins Say the Life Verse Ask one of the kids to open up the Bible to the Life Verse bookmark. Read Psalm 95:6 to the kids and have them stand/sit on each word as they are saying the verse all together. Do this a few times and have the kids all say the verse together. Talk About the Bible Story BTH 15 Open your Bible up to Luke 15. While showing the teaching picture of the three parables tell the story in your own words. Explain to them that sometime Jesus would tell people stories in order to help them understand what he was saying and to teach them something. Take prayer requests and pray for each request. Thank God for the fact that Jesus told these stories to help us know what to do. Art Center: The lost sheep Supplies provided: White lamb die-cut #2, die-cut bookmark #25, cotton balls, glue, Life Verse and markers. Give each child one lamb cut out and one bookmark. Have them glue the cotton balls onto the lamb. Once they are done have them glue the sheep and the Jesus is our Shepherd onto the bookmark. Glue the Life verse onto the back of the bookmark, so that the kids will remember the verse. Once they are done with that let them color the rest of the picture. Find the Coins Cut out the coins in order to go hide them around the room. Count so you know how many need to be found. Discuss with the kids about the parable with the coins. Have the kids spread out around the room to find the coins. Signal time for cleanup and encourage the kids to put all materials away. As needed, walk around the room and assign a cleanup task to each child making it a race to get things put away quickly, but also very neatly. Play the Kindergarten CD as the children are cleaning up and getting ready to go home.
