MUSIC MINISTRY Kyle Davies, Director of Music Ministry and Liturgy 412 835 7720 kdavies@stvals.org Psalm Reflection Lord, let your face shine on us. Psalm 4: 2, 4, 7-8, 9 These verses from Psalm 4 proclaim the release God grants those who call out in anguish. In the context of the Easter season, the anguish is sin in the face of Jesus death. Risen from death, Christ releases us from sin with the gift of forgiveness. In the gospel he commands us to preach repentance and forgiveness to all the world. Peter carries out this command with forthrightness and conviction. John reassures us that in Christ all sin has been expiated. In the risen Christ, God s face shines upon humankind with mercy, transforming our lives from sin to grace, from anguish to peace, from darkness to light. How, as the Body of Christ in today s world, are we that face of mercy? It is a joy to be celebrating Easter with you this year. Thank you to all the members of the music ministry team for their hard work and dedication in preparation for Holy Week. Thank you to the members of the St. Valentine Voices of Spirit Choir, Resurrection Choir, as well as members of the Rejoice Ringers for creating meaningful music as we celebrated our Lord s resurrection. Thank you also to our team or cantors as well as the instrumentalists who performed. Christ is Risen! Psalm Reflection taken from Cry Out with Joy, published by GIA Publications, Chicago, IL. 4

YOUTH MINISTRY Laura Dern, Director of Youth Ministry 412 835 4415 ldern@stvals.org Why is the Easter season so long? What are we as Catholics supposed to do during the Easter season? This week s discussion will focus on the full celebration of the Easter season and how we should celebrate. We are always excited to welcome more youth. If you are interested or know someone who might be, inform them of this great opportunity. Thank you for the donation for The Table Has Been Set by The Domenico Didiano Family in memory of Gloria DiLuise For Faith in the Risen Lord Father, in Your love You have brought me from evil to good and from misery to happiness. Through Your blessings give me the help I need to continue in virtue. Make my faith strong and my hope sure. May I never doubt that You will fulfill the promises You have made. May I who am redeemed by the suffering and death of Christ always rejoice in His Resurrection. As I honor His glorious Resurrection, renew Your gift of Divine life within me. Amen To Share Christ s Resurrection Almighty God, You have given the human race Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Savior, as a model of humility and love. He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man and gave His life on the Cross. May His death give me hope and strengthen my faith. May His Resurrection give me grace to continue in his love And lead me to salvation. Help me to bear witness to Jesus by following His example in His suffering, And make me worthy to share His Resurrection. Amen 7

For more information: The Traveling Chalice Please consider signing up to take the chalice with you for a week! The sign-up form is in the Rainbow Room Pray for Vocations! You Are The Witnesses Of These Things To be a witness to something can have a double meaning. On the one hand, a witness is someone who sees something occur, in order that they might tell others about it. On the other hand, a witness is one who testifies to something neither seen nor heard, yet nonetheless true. Unless we are nearly 2,000 years old, we are not witnesses in the first sense to the life, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. Yet, by faith, we are witnesses in the second sense. By our baptism we are called to witness to the love of God through our words and actions which are to be reflections of the love of Jesus. In the coming weeks and months, the On Mission for The Church Alive! initiative will ask us to build new relationships with nearby parishes, an opportunity to witness to the love of God alive in our hearts. While this may seem like a burden to some, it is at the heart of the Christian life as we build up the Body of Christ, the Church. As we grow in love of others, may we treat them as if THEY are Christ, and treat them as if WE are Christ. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed. 8
