The Belle Banner January 26, 1994 Obituaries Anthony Pollard Anthony (Tony) G. Pollard of St. Louis died on Thursday, Dec. 23, 1993, at the age of 71, at John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis after a long illness. He was a son of George and Mary (Eichhorn) Pollard. He was united in marriage to Junie (nee Schwegler) on July 26, 1947, and was the dear father of Kathleen (Michael) Geen, Elizabeth (Robert) Derleth, George (Cynthia) Pollard, Kenneth (Kelley) Pollard, Carolyn (Scott) Turner, and one infant son Michael who preceded him in death. Mrs. Pollard formerly lived in the Vienna and Belle area. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Michael Geen, David Feldmeier, Denise Feldmeier, and Ann Derleth; and one sister, Doris Gutting. He was a member of Disabled Veterans Chapter One. The funeral services were from Southern Funeral Home the following Monday to St. Cecilia Church for Mass. Transcribed from a letter written by Junie Pollard 8-25-01 Alice came by last evening a while. Don was coming too, but their son John was having car trouble on the way home from work so he went to help him. Our family all keep close by phone. We generally have a get-to-gether once a year at a park. There are about 60 of us. Then around Christmas take turns at each others houses. Husbands and wives that are left. You know Edna and I are widows. Waneta and Mel (they are in bad health), Don and Alice, George and Jane. I see Edna and Alice more often. We used to go see Virginia every 6 weeks until her health then every 3 weeks. I enjoyed reading about your family. Tony and I and 2 or 3 or our children visited you once on the farm near Bethel. Your sons were small then, saw you at Sarah and Woodrow s, I think Dad and Una were with us. Kathern (Ridenhour) and Calvin Becklenberg from Vichy came down Sunday, Aug. 12 th. They had lunch here then we went to a 50 th anniversary of a teacher she taught with at Linn, MO. I showed them how to get there. They brought cucumbers, tomatoes and fresh made grape jelly. Edna also gave us some tomatoes. My friend George and I went over one day. It takes about half an hour when traffic isn t bad to get there. Nothing better than an home grown tomato. We used to grow them but I live in a condo now and only have a balcony and flowers. Don t miss the work but do my rose garden. It is wonderful all the things you volunteer for. I go to Senior Center at Carondelet area and take Dorie my sister-in-law. I think I told you and used to baby sit lot. Beth & Bob (daughter) Ann is 8 now and (Carolyn and Scott) Brett 6, Lauren almost 5. (They) moved to Florida. Sure miss them. A little about my family, hope it isn t boring. Kathy, 53, is in management at Schnucks Main Bakery plant. Mike,53, is a mailman in Ballwin, MO. They live in Fenton about 2-3 miles south of 44 and Chrysler plant. Their son Michael 30 & Kristen live in St. Louis Hills. They have Stella, a year old July 18. Beth, secretary at high school and Bob, retired from SW Bell, part time Sears hardware, have Ann 8 yrs. They live 1 mile or so south in Indian Hills South. Beth has David 26 and Denise 20 by Craig, her first husband. David lives in an apartment in Holly Hills South St. Louis. He s a printer. George lives in Mesa, AZ. He lost his wife Cindy in March 8, 1994. He works for AT&T and travels a lot on work related business trips. He is a professional singer and does theater work on the side. Ken 38 and Kelly live in South County, Oakville. He works as a stock broker A.G. Edwards downtown Market and Jefferson. Carolyn, 38 in Sept. 8, and Scott live in St. Petersburg Beach, FL. They have Brett 6, Lauren 5 Dec. 28 Carrie is an insurance broker (Marsh & Associates) and Scott works in air conditioning and heating. Hope you both are OK, take care.
