The Banner The Lord is My Banner. Exodus 17:15 September 13, 2018 First Baptist Church, Cuero P.O. Box 803 408 N. Gonzales Cuero, TX 77954 361-275-3401 (office) www.fbccuero.org Note From The Pastor Dr. Glenn E. Robertson, Sr. Pastor Let me remind you of some of the studies I am conducting at church. Grace in Life s Detours A Study of Ruth This is a study I am writing and teaching on Wednesday nights. We meet from 6:00 to 7:00. It is for all adults who are not involved in helping the Wednesday Children s Ministry. We had a good group to start our study. Pam Frink will assist me in the study as a discussion facilitator. Patterns of Evidence of the Exodus by Timothy Mahoney We had a good group for our first meeting of the Exodus evidence study. This is a documentary movie with discussion at the end of each session. We will meet on this study for the next two weeks. Remember, this Sunday is the regular Quarterly Business meeting. We will start about 12:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Also, please note, that on the web we have a page for posting current events. The current events page is found below the About Tab. The agenda will be posted on the current events page. Pastor Glenn Larry s Notes Pastor of Music & Worship WOW! The attendance this past Sunday was great. What an inspiration to lead worship in two different services with the Sanctuary full. The 11:00 service was especially well attended. Many of those in attendance were visitors to our church. I frequently hear stories from regular church members about their experiences when they have been out of town and worshiped at another church. There has been a wide range of welcomes, from being totally ignored to being suffocated. Some of these churches do a very good job of following up on visitors. I hope we will do everything

we can to welcome visitors. Invite them to Sunday School. Invite them to some of our other activities. Try to get to know them a little. When we do the welcome time in our services, I often say something about meeting someone you don t know. I m serious. Move around a little bit and intentionally attempt to meet some folks you don t know. Who knows maybe your effort will be that good first impression that leads a visitor to discover that our church is encouraging and open to new people. IT S NOT TOO LATE It s not too late to join one of our Music Ministry teams. We would love to have you be a part of one of our groups: Children s Choirs: there are two groups for children grades 1 through 6. They meet on Tuesdays after school. Youth Praise Band: any student in grades 7 through 12 are invited to sing or play in the Youth Praise Band. They meet on Sundays at 4:30. Sanctuary Choir: the choir is open to any adult or high school student. They meet on Wednesdays at 7:00. Pastor of Youth, Ben Faus Upcoming Sept 30, 4pm, Fellowship Hall: State of the Youth address & meeting. Come hear what we ve been up to over the past year, and what we hope to do this next year! We ll have light refreshments and great discussion/brainstorming! Oct 6, time & location tba: Saturday Night Special Rather than 5 th quarters, this year we re going to try having a few Saturday Night events in the Fall. Our first will be on October 6 th. More details to come! Website upgrades: RightNow Media Sign-up Have you signed up for RightNow Media? Know somebody that might benefit? There is now a live sign-up link on our website. Go to www.fbccuero.org/media and scroll to the bottom. Click the orange logo, and you ll be taken to the sign-up page automatically. Then you can browse the various bible studies and movies that are available. RightNow Media encouraged us to do this, which is rare for a media company to do. Take advantage of it! Current Events Page There is now a Current Events page at www.fbccuero.org/about/current. Check here for current events or read the Newsletter! www.fbccuero.org/newsletter Fall meals covered! Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. Philippians 4:17-18 Thanks so much to those of you who signed up to help with the youth Sunday Night meals. We ll look for more volunteers in the Spring to bring meals. This is a great opportunity for our youth to worship together, and feeding them helps them know that many others care for them as well. Grace and Peace, Ben Faus 214-675-2731 (cell)

Want to invite all adults to a 6 weeks study starting on Sunday September 16 th from 6p-7:30 pm. There will be childcare in the nursery for anyone needing. (The Sunday evening kids studies start back on Sept. 9th) We will be doing the GOLIATH MUST FALL DVD SERIES & STUDY by Louie Giglio about winning the battle against the giants in our lives. Although we are not fighting literal giants, like in David & Goliath, the giants standing in our lives are every bit as intimidating, damaging & limiting to us. Giants like FEAR, REJECTION, APPROVAL, ADDICTION, COMFORT, & ANGER that rob us of the fullness & freedom Jesus provides us. The truth is, we don t need to just try harder or have better slingshot accuracy like David. This study talks about relying on JESUS POWER, HIS SUFFICIENCY, not our own to overcome the giants in our lives. JESUS is our GIANT SLAYER.
