Page 1 The month of June is the start, both officially and unofficially, of summer. School will let out on June 1 st and students will toss their backpacks down - not to be picked up again until September. On the 21 st we residents of the Northern hemisphere will experience the summer solstice - the longest day of the year and the official start of the summer season. It is the warm days and green hues of summer that make us head outdoors. We run our bare feet across the freshly mowed yards inhaling their grassy fragrances. We take our bats, balls and nets out to the park, woods or beach to feel the sun and wind on our faces. We linger on our front and back porches sipping cool drinks, watching and listening to the sounds of the summer bird visitors serenade us. It is this time of year, the time of the year that we spent out of the four walls that keep nature's elements at bay, that we become most aware of God's creative world. Job's words remind us that God holds us in His hands. God's most wondrous creative gift - this earth - has been filled with all things good. But the tricky thing we need to realize is we have been given the responsibility to care for this amazing gift. Genesis 2:15 says, "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it." God's design is for us to be stewards of our planet. As the summer quickly falls upon us, be sure you are doing your part to protect and sustain our planet. Buy "green" friendly products. Take reusable grocery bags with you when you go shopping. Increase the temperature of your summer air conditioner. Car pool with a friend to reduce carbon emissions. God intended for us to enjoy the critters found only in nature, the speculator mountain scenes, the vivid sunsets, and the touch the wind makes on our skin as it blows gently across us on a hot day. The out-of -doors has been gifted to you by our Creative God. Let this be the season for you to appreciate it. Perhaps you want to do so by joining us for outdoor services, which begins on June 11 th at 8:30 a.m. See you outside, Rev. Kathy
Page 2 On May 21 st, our church congregation gave recognition and thanks to all the musicians who enrich our weekly services throughout the year using their God given gifts! I'm sure those who were in attendance were uplifted by all the beautiful music that was shared in expressing the many names that we use to refer to our God. The theme was "You are...". From the designing of the bulletin cover to the Sanctuary anthem, "Light of Glory", to our youngest singing, I Have Decided to Follow Jesus"; we uplifted those names through the use of music! I want to thank all those special people for choosing to share God's message through music! What a blessing you all are to the life of your church! I especially feel blessed that you choose to take time out of your busy schedule to commit to weekly rehearsals and services. It is the fun, the fellowship, and the friendships we share during those times that I treasure! Thank you, thank you! You are a very special and serving group of dedicated musicians! Thank you for a wonderful year of Christian dedication to enrich the services of our church and share the musical love of our gracious God! We have a fox den right in the middle of farmer Bill's cornfield directly in the front of our house! We have ring side seats from our living room window! There is a mother and her baby living there! Usually there are more babies but I don't think too long about why there is only one! There is also a red tailed hawk's nest at the edge of the field! The circle of life comes to mind, but I don't really know for sure! But I m thankful for the one pup and they are so very entertaining! They play together and eat some very strange looking things and it's probably better I don't know what it is! We've seen the baby nurse and play with mommy's tail. We've seen the baby jump in the air, probably learning the instinct to pounce on the food source! It's all been so very enjoyable! Needless to say, Steve had some great photo ops and took advantage of them! The hummingbirds are back! The Jenny wrens are very noisy as they built their nests! They are rather entertaining as they try to fit all sizes of twigs into the box! They keep sliding a larger twig to its end in their beaks until it fits into the box along side of them instead of in front of them! It's amazing how smart they are! God's little creatures are amazing and I think we could learn some valuable life lessons from them. Mommy fox is quite a good example of a very nurturing mother. The little Jenny wren shows us a lesson in perseverance. She keeps trying until the impossible becomes possible! So much to see and learn from Mother Nature and her Creator!

Page 5 On May 3 rd a group of Prayer Warriors met. At this gathering we focused on ways to be more intentional in offering prayer to those who seek it. We revamped the look of the Prayer List hoping to make it more user friendly. Our goal was to deepen our relationship with the folks on the Prayer List - getting to know them so we can better offer to God their needs. Now, we pause full of hope, as we long to see results of our efforts; we want to know that prayers are being answered. So, if you no longer see a name on the Prayer List, it is because God's mercy is good and God has offered solutions to problems. We have agreed to meet regularly. At our gatherings we will share with each other how the Spirit is moving throughout our community. And we will, of course, open our voices in prayer for those seeking God's powerful touch. To ask for prayer and to place a name on the list, we are asking that you contact Linda Pentz (225-4509) or Carol Brown (225-1410) or Rev. Kathy (487-5202). Give us some information about the person and his/her needs, and keep us up to date on the work of God's amazing Spirit. But don't forget to do your part. Keep our church family and friends always in your prayers. OUR DEEPEST CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Mabel Baer & family on the passing of Mabel s sister, Bea Billbee, who entered the Church Triumphant on Thursday, April 27 th.

Our Penn Central Conference delegate is Jean Weidler. She will be taking our donation of quarters for a new washer and dryer at Hartman Center. The next Prayer Warrior Team meeting is June 12 th at 11 AM. The next church fellowship night will be Friday, June 16 th when we gather for a covered dish supper and game night. VBS begins on June 19-25. Please register children/ grandchildren and sign up to help and to donate supplies. The church picnic will be Sunday, June 25 th after the VBS program. Meat and beverages will be provided. Please bring a covered dish and enjoy the fellowship. If you would like to suggest a favorite hymn to be sung during church, please put the name/number on a paper and put it in the offering plate. Come every Sunday so you do not miss singing your hymn. Our hard working property committee reported that we should not use our current boiler for another heating season. Bids have been obtained. Prices depend on the type of fuel. If we can use natural gas, the cost could be up to $30,000. We already have $5,000 in a boiler fund. Michele and Bud Hamme submitted a grant application for the church and we have received an additional $5,000 from Community Aid. A big thank to Michele and Bud. We are awaiting a final recommendation from the committee.
Page 7 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held Monday, June 19 Friday, June 23, from 6:15 8:15 PM. On Sunday, June 25, we will celebrate VBS Sunday and share what we have learned, then follow the service with our annual church picnic. Our theme this year is Maker Fun Factory: Created by GOD, Built for a Purpose. Where curious kids become hands-on inventors who discover they re lovingly crafted by God! Maker Fun Factory VBS is for kids from age 2 (with a parent) to those who will finish 6 th grade this year. Registration sheets for children and sign-up sheets for helpers and donations are on the table in the overflow room.
