Federated Church December 27th 2015 Calendar of Commemoration Christian tradition says that John the Evangelist was the Apostle John. The Apostle John was an historical figure, one of the "pillars" of the Jerusalem church after Jesus' death. He was one of Christ's original Twelve apostles and is thought to be the only one to have lived into old age and not be killed for his faith. John is associated with the city of Ephesus, where he is said to have lived and been buried. John the Evangelist is regarded as the author of the Gospel of John, and other Johannine works in the New Testament the three Epistles of John and the Book of Revelation. First visit to Federated today? Welcome! We would like to know that you were here. Please fill out a Connection Card and place it in the offering basket. CHRISTMAS JOY OFFERING -TODAY We give to this special offering once a year to support special ethnic colleges in the US and to help church workers who need some financial help at this point in their lives (Presbyterian). We send the other half of the offering to help support our mission partners, the Graners, who are working in the Dominican Republic (Methodist). This is a good way to help outside our local community.
Haiti Solar Cart News Update Our friends down in San Ramon Valley (of the solar cart program) were in Hinche last spring providing eye exams to the community. Last October they had a medical team scheduled to go provide health screenings but it was cancelled due to political unrest around the elections. However, Steve will be in Haiti in January doing his annual check on all carts and will provide us with an update on Hinche when he returns. Meanwhile back at Federated, our own Wendy West has been in communication with folks down at UCD Vet School looking for guidance in our plans to set the school up with a small egg production business. WHAT"S NEXT? Have you considered going to visit our friends in Haiti? Might we put together a small delegation to go there sometime this spring or summer? Would you like to get more information about what it might be like? Come to a brief meeting between services (10:30 a.m.) in the Fireside Room on January 10th. Sara Munday, Margie Bryant and Carol Olmstead
