Our Life Journey s Stories of determination, inspiration and celebration. Karen Offord Love the Life You Live Coach, Counsellor, Author. Mother of 2 handsome boys, partner to a wonderful loving man (aka my soul mate) and owner of the sweetest little cat, Angel. A lover of reading and writing in a world of endless inspiration. PAST: I grew up in what you d call a middle class, relatively happy family. A happy normal young women who loved sport (particularly tennis) until she discovered boys. I was captivated by the Fairy Tale and dreamt of my prince charming from a very early age. Although divorce surrounded me in my first 20 years of life; my parents, family and friends marriage didn t seem that special. All the marriages I knew (except just a couple) were broken. But I dreamt of it, I believed true love existed, I had seen it in the rare few couples I knew of who lived the life I desired. They gave me hope. Having travelled through two divorces of my own, something I felt guilt and shame over for a long time and experiencing complete self-loathing and suicidal thoughts, I decided if I was ever going to have this fairy tale and happy life, I d better learn as much as I could about relationships. So I could finally get it right and also show my children what a beautiful, loving, relationship looked like. So I set out on a personal journey to find my answers and him, my soul mate, my prince charming. This journey led me to experience some crazy wild adventures (some I would never do again, but happy for the lessons learnt), my personal development journey and the greatest relationship one can ever have. The one you can never
hide from, the one that affects all others. That is the relationship you have with yourself. I discovered before you can experience the love and life I wanted, you had to love yourself; you had to get that relationship right. Throughout my journey I studied and received my accreditations (whilst being a single mum) in counselling, coaching and energy healing. I volunteered for Lifeline, obtained my small business certifications and published my first book. While setting up my new coaching and counselling practise. This grew into a wonderful business, a non-profit fundraising program, my fun, free meetup group for women and most recently a magnificent movement for Women all around the world. PRESENT: I struggled for so many years, pretty much on my own as my mum had gone off with her new man and we didn t see her much for some time. Trying to find my feet, trying to discover who I was, to love and accept myself (unheard of at the time for me) trying to find my purpose and reason for existing in this great big world. However I sit here now smiling, happy and grateful for all I ve experienced. As it was through my experiences and incredible journey I am now able to help other women find their way, their joy and meaning in this amazing, often crazy, journey we call life. I am committed, determined and focused on helping women through all my avenues, through paid work and providing valuable free information. Particularly for those who are travelling on a similar path to me. I know what it feels like as a struggling single mum, trying to make ends meet, provide for their children with nothing left at the end of the week (many times in the red), always talking to debt collectors, making payment plans etc. Forget pedicures, hairdressers, nice clothes, makeup, books, going to the movies, eating out. Even when I went out with my friends I was the one looking for the cheapest meal on the menu, at times just saying I wasn t hungry and ordered a glass of water (they never knew). When I began my journey it was with absolutely no cash. I would sit for hours in my local library reading, researching and feeding my mind with all I could in order to learn and grow and become the women I was meant to be. For those who feel held back by finances or are waiting till they have enough to afford the fancy courses, books, workshops or coaching services I can assure you; you can start to create magnificent changes in your life right now. We are truly blessed to have so much available to us; books at the library, researching online, YouTube videos. I am one who loves recommended reading and mentors by those you admire. It saves a lot of time and avoids going down the wrong path. I learnt the lesson of discernment the hard way big time. A story I will probably never share but have since come to peace with and moved on. As you grow, step by step, day by day, your self-esteem, confidence, self-acceptance and self-love will lead you in a positive beautiful direction. It will open up channels and possibilities for you you never knew existed or believed were possible for you. You will create a life full of love, joy and meaning.
MY FUTURE VISION: To continue my personal development journey for the rest of my life as there is and will always be something to learn and room for growth in this ever changing world. To build my business and reach a million women around the world with so much love, guidance and inspiration. It is my goal, my purpose and dream to run regular monthly groups and yearly retreats. Providing a space for women to be inspired, to discover their most beautiful authentic selves, what they re capable of and to fully embrace and celebrate all that they are, do, can do and can be. MY GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT: It is beyond anything material, any certification or possession, one of my greatest achievements would be raising my two handsome sons. It isn t an easy task being a parent and I believe we should acknowledge it as one of the most important roles we will ever undertake. The love, sacrifice, ability, commitment and effort we make in helping our children grow up in a better world. In a loving environment, giving them all the love, support and encouragement to believe in themselves and be the happiest, very best person they can be. Then I would have to say finding my inner light, my higher self (who I now affectionately refer to as Aurora ) It is through this journey and achievement my life changed completely. My business was born, my children are happier and I met my soul mate, my prince charming. MY FAVOURITE QUOTE: The greatest investment you can ever make is in you. Not only do you improve and enhance your life but also the lives of others. As your presence and beautiful new energy naturally lifts and inspires others. That is a beautiful gift, to yourself, those you love and to the world (by Karen Offord) Joy is a choice, each morning you wake up, you choose. THE GREATEST ADVICE I WOULD GIVE TO WOMEN: As cliché as it sounds; Never give up, keep believing, keep aiming for what your heart desires and know that you are worthy of so much love and joy. Even if you don t know how to achieve it or feel so far away from reaching it never give up, you have all that you need within you to create a magnificent life and there are so many people and resources out there to guide you, encourage and support you along your journey. HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE WORLD: By waking up each day with a smile, with great intent, love and desire to give and be my best. Whether it s from a simple smile to a stranger, working with one of my clients or adding to my groups. I cannot expect from others what I don t give or do myself. When I come from a place of love and kindness, I add a little more love and help raise the vibration of the world.
