GREEN THE SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Jesus loves you We Catholics believe that Jesus gave us his own body and blood in the Holy Eucharist. We actually believe that Jesus is really present in this sacrament. For us Catholics, the Holy Eucharist is not just a symbol. It is not just a memory. It is not just a promise. It is really Jesus Christ. This is why St. Paul could say, "For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord s death until he comes. It was not just an empty promise when Jesus said "I am with you always, even to the end of the world." (Matthew 28:20). He means that. So Jesus remains here with us today, in the Mass as our Savior, in Holy Communion as our spiritual food and in our tabernacle as our loving friend. This is the sacrament of Jesus' love for us. Now, He asks us to love Him in return. Genuine love requires much more than minimum obedience, more than regular mass attendance. Real love requires sacrifice; consider pledging the sacrifice of one hour of your time each week. One hour of returning Jesus' love for you. One hour of prayer and adoration with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus is there in the St. Bernard adoration chapel day and night, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, waiting for you to visit Him, and share His love for you. Current Hours Available: SATURDAYS, 1-2 PM SUNDAYS 4-5 PM For information, call the office at 855-9069. *********************************************************** RCIA WILL YOU SAY YES TO ME? It would seem that anyone who reads this column each week is someone who is a spiritual being concerned about his or her pathway to salvation. Where does that pathway begin? It begins with saying YES to Jesus Christ, not just in words but in our actions. Baptism is the beginning action. Although it cleanses us of our sins, it does not remove our tendency to sin. But, not to worry! Following our Baptism, Christ has given us another cleanup option to reconcile with him and once again gain his good grace. We call it the Sacrament Penance and Reconciliation. Confession of our sins renews our relationship with God and we feel once again worthy of his love. At our RCIA session this week we will present to our candidates the steps ahead for them to come into full communion with his Church. The first step in this process is for each of them to say YES to Jesus Christ. They have spent many weeks learning the teachings of Christ and have been prepared to make a choice; is it Yes, I am ready or No, I need more time. Saying Yes to Jesus Christ and What is Lent are our topics this week. Come join us as we continue on our journey on the pathway to salvation through a life in Christ. As we approach the season of Lent, it is also a good time for those of us in full communion with the Catholic Church to reconfirm our Yes to Christ. Do we know the way? What is our choice? Come and see. ALL ARE WELCOME Your RCIA Team

GREEN FEBRUARY 24, 2019 ABORTION AND THE (UN)GREAT STATE OF NEW YORK During the week of January 28 th 2019, the (UN)GREAT STATE OF NEW YORK passed a bill signed by Governor Cuomo which allows abortion during the third trimester and even up to and during birth. The abomination of abortion is not a political issue, it a matter of good and evil where the line has clearly been drawn. Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil, who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who think themselves wise and believe themselves to be cunning Isaiah 50:20-21. It is not enough just to be disgusted we cannot be silent. We must pray, speak out, and put our words into action. Please plan on being a part of the 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil, from Wednesday, March 6 th through Sunday, April 14 th 2019. A team from Respect Life will be in the Narthex before and after Mass for those who wish to sign-up for the 40 Days of Life Prayer Vigil. Be a Light for Life. ********************************* Opening Up Personal Prayer A Lenten Journey with St. Ignatius This prayer group is for individuals seeking to grow or learn more about personal private prayer.
