THIS WEEK LOOKING AHEAD SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25 Second Sunday of Lent MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26 Monday of the Second Week in Lent STEWARDSHIP AS A WAY OF LIFE TIME TALENT TREASURE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27 Tuesday of the Second Week of Lent WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28 Wednesday of the Second Week of Lent THURSDAY, MARCH 1 Thursday of the Second Week of Lent FRIDAY, MARCH 2 Friday of the Second Week of Lent GOOD STEWARDS OF GOD S GRACE Lent is a wonderful time to reflect on and renew our commitment to Christ and His Church. St. Paul gives us one of the best examples of being a Good Steward of God s Grace as he recognized the gift of grace given to him for our benefit, for the benefit of building up the body of Christ, the Church. God gives each of us gifts to help build up His Church. But it is only when Christ dwells in our hearts that we are truly able to recognize these gifts and how we are called to use them for the benefit of the Church. As St. Paul tells us in Ephesians 3:8-10, To me, the very least of all the holy ones, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the inscrutable riches of Christ, and to bring to light [for all] what is the plan of the mystery hidden from ages past in God who created all things, so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the Church to the principalities and authorities in the heavens. FAITH IN ACTION Protect Life Crusaders PRAY INFORM ACT Next Meeting Feb 27th, 5:00PM, Lower Hall Contact: Teresa Smith, teresa.j.smith16@gmail.com FORMATION RESOURCES DID YOU KNOW? Fr. Mark Hodges, February 21, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) Religious brothers in a small southwest mining town dubbed The Pro-Life Monks import, roast, grind, package and sell premium grade specialty coffee so good it s become the Official Coffee of the Washington D.C. annual March for Life. Forty monks in Silver City, plus many young postulants and a hundred men on a waiting list to visit, follow St. Benedict's spirituality of work and prayer. And to keep their monastery financially afloat, they make coffee Delicious whole bean or fresh ground gourmet Arabica coffee. Since Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Unborn, Br. Bernard told LifeSiteNews, we are honored when our coffee customers call us The Pro-Life Monks! Br. Bernard explained that the monastery prays fervently for the world to respect the sanctity of innocent human life. In hidden cloisters throughout the world, Religious Brothers and Sisters are praying and sacrificing themselves in reparation for the sins of abortion which continually cry to heaven for vengeance, he said. The brothers are now offering pro-life advocates a fundraising opportunity in a ministry they call Cafe4Life. The concept is simple, the Brother explained. Parishes throughout the country have millions of coffee drinkers. Each parish can take orders for Cafe4Life after Mass and sell it at a reasonable profit for their own pro-life ministry. Since our coffee is exceptionally good we are certain that little by little, weekly parish orders will increase, he added. With the increased sales, the pro-life funding will also increase! If we assume that half of coffee drinkers are pro-life, then companies like Starbuck s, which made 22 billion dollars last year alone, are making much of their revenues from prolifers! he said. Let s try to funnel some of that money away from anti-life and anti-family coffee companies like Starbuck s, and let s put it where lives can be saved and mothers in need can be encouraged to keep their precious gifts from heaven! Let the children come unto me - Mark 10:14 As many of you may have noticed, the two doors to the vestibule of the Church have been fitted with glass inserts and a newly-installed speaker, in order to see and hear the Mass. This is in response to those who have asked for a place to temporarily stand with their infants and toddlers, when needed, during the Mass. While in the past, parents were only able to take their children outside, we now hope that the vestibule will serve this purpose during Mass. We also hope that this will address the needs of (1) parents who need this option in the care of their children at Mass, (2) children, so that they may best be guided toward the habit of silence and reverence in Church, and (3) other members of the congregation who have communicated to us their being distracted by the excessive noise children sometimes make during the liturgy. As adults, we should never leave the Church during the Mass, except for urgent matters, as it may become distracting to others, and to your own proper worship of God. Therefore, we ask that you observe the following guidelines when utilizing the vestibule as an area to tend to children during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass: The vestibule is still a part of the Church. Please refrain from talking to other parents or using electronic devices. Please do not let children play in the vestibule it is not a nursery. Please do not re-enter the Church during the Homily or Eucharistic Prayer. Please do not walk around the back of the Church or other areas of the Church during the Mass. Once young children have been given the attention they need, we hope they will rejoin the rest of the congregation for the Mass, as it is important for all children to experience the Sacred Liturgy. Thank you. 5
