Please put lists of names in the basket before the Altar & try to attend 9 of these Masses during Nov. Last year some people did 2 Novenas for Nov - attending the 9 Masses in both Churches.

Next MEETING of Islandeady/Glenisland Parish Pastoral Council (& the Council may co-opt more people as the need arises) is on TUES 4 th Nov at 8 pm in St Aidan s room. The Presbytery Glenisland and St Aidans Islandeady are wonderful facilities which are available for FREE for all Church & Community occasions after Mass or anytime. Catering and refreshments can be arranged by family, neighbours or community. The Leylandii Trees overgrown onto the road from the Parochial House Islandeady need to be removed - having sought advice from Mayo Co Council, tree experts & village enhancement scheme. Cutting them back sufficiently to safety standards at this bad bend would kill them. It is hoped to replace them with a neat hedge thus enhancing the village & improving the view of the Church over the lovely stone wall as you enter the village. Pope Francis Who is he? Why has he taken the world & church by storm? Fr Colm Kilcoyne will speak in the Family Centre Castlebar next WED 29 th at 8 pm. All welcome. The Wednesday Get-together The Wednesday Get-together Group would like to THANK everyone who supported there recent coffee morning fundraiser A staggering 615 was raised on the day THANK YOU once again. Mayo Mental Health Association Mayo Mental Health Association would like to thank The People of Islandeady a sun of 365 was collected at your Local Church gate collection. Community Council News: Sale of Work: This year's Sale of Work takes place on Sunday November 16th at 2pm in Marty's Halfway House, Islandeady. This is an important Annual Fundraiser for the Community Council and money raised from the Sale of Work goes towards the upkeep, repair, and improvement and associated costs of running the Community Centre, supporting local clubs, groups and initiatives such as the weekly Wednesday social, the youth groups etc. Home baking, jams, marmalade will be most welcome for sale on the day. Special Sale of Work meeting in the Community Centre on Tuesday, 28 th October at 8pm. All members and volunteers are invited to attend. Thanks to all those who helped sell raffle tickets at Super Valu, Westport and Castlebar recently. Christmas Annual: Do you have any short stories, poems, jokes, old pictures & sayings that you would like to share for the Parish Christmas Annual?.The editorial team are now looking for contributions. We would like to receive material from people at home & abroad. The magazine will be on sale before Christmas & will be in local shops in Westport & Castlebar. Weekly Card Game: Our weekly card game takes place every Monday night in the Community Centre at 9pm. All card players are welcome to join the regular Monday night players for an enjoyable and well run game. Refreshments served afterwards. Parish Social Get-together: Parish social get-together every Wednesday at 11am in Islandeady Community Centre. Dinner & a variety of Activities only 5.New members always welcome. Names to: 094 9044797 or 087 9626075..New Keys to Community Centre: Due to lack of response by clubs and key holders to previous notice a final decision on this matter has been deferred to our next meeting. Village Enhancement: Work has recently started on improvements and landscaping at Reid s Cross and later improvements will also be carried out at Aughagower Road, Parochial House and at the Three Bridges. It is also hoped to carry out work at The Arch and at The Gaeity with a view to improving driver visibility Club Fees: Club Fee's are due for the coming year for the use of the Centre. All fees are due by Wednesday October 29th. Fees are 100 for the year, and this covers clubs and groups for the period of their return until the finish.
